6BRA Alpha Brass question

The rifle that I have, has a chamber with a .272 neck, don’t remember what the 200 line number is at the moment. The sizing die that came with it appears to be a Harrells #2. I have two working loads with this rifle. One with Alpha brass, another with Lapua brass. Where I have the sizing die set seems to be working well with each brand of brass. I am sizing the brass till the bolt falls freely.

I tried some Alpha ocd 6 bra brass necked down and turned for 22 bra. Couldn't get it to work at all, heavy lift. Long story short I worked with Tom and we finally decided that the body was too long to the shoulders. He made a run that was .004 shorter and that solved all my problems. I even tried bumping the original brass WAY back and it still wouldn't work. Alpha Munitions was EXCELLENT to work with! They wanted nothing more than to make me happy. They did and now I'm part of their sponsored shooters.
I’m having trouble with my 6 BRA Alpha brass, but I have large quantities of alpha 22 GT, 6 GT, & 25 CM all with great result. I’m going to try to find that happy place for my 6 bra brass. Glad to have an American company working to bring good products to our market place!

I’m at 2910 and bolt lift feels like it’s a hot load. And running 29.4 H4895 Berger 105 VLD. And swipes on brass case head.

Guess I’ll shoot this load until I run out of bullets and powder for it and try to switch to Lapua. The load shoots great but not fun fighting the rifle to smoothly eject a round
That is faster than my 107s over 30.4 H4895 with Lapua brass.

Berger 105's are pretty darn repeatable.

When I used to shoot quite a few Bergers, I had lots that varied from bullet to bullet in the same box of the same lot. There is bound to be some variation lot to lot as many bullets as are made and it's somewhat to be expected as tools wear. I don't know what their tolerances are as far as when they pull a die out of production and replace it. I seem to remember reading years ago that you could get from say .243-.2438 within the life of the die before the manufacture would replace. That's just conjecture as I can't remember where I saw it and for all I know it could've been someone like me that doesn't know anything about what he's saying.

I guess if you have enough of them to last the life of the reamer...that reamer should just work fine. Not sure how many barrels that is.. Back to the reamer. My 2 Bra reamers are .244 .

Yeah. If I like the cartridge, I'll get a custom reamer made. Or maybe a .244 throater.

Same issue for me - try measuring the BTO if you want an enlightening experience LOL. I don’t shoot Bergers anymore.

Don't get me wrong and think that I'm trashing Berger, I'm not. There's some really good shooting bullets out there in a yellow or orange box. I was trying to make a broad statement about mass produced bullets and the fact that there is going to be some amount of variation built in. That doesn't mean that there isn't potential in there. A lot of new guys getting into this game think that a 105 grain .243 bullet is something you can use to qualify your mic (caliper actually) as well as calibrate your new chargemaster... that simply isn't the case and people who have done it for awhile know this.
