This may be the BEST thread on the forum. Here is the rifle completed. Ready to head to the range Sunday.
The stock is a Robertson that has had numerous actions in it, even a big Bat M at one time. It’s glued and screwed. The barrel is a 1-17 30 Cal Bartlien. Jewel Trigger, Nightforce 15x155 Competition Scope, Bat Rings modified to fit the Farley Action, my own Tuner. The trigger guard is an cut up Mauser I had laying around.
This has been a neat project. It kinda falls into the category of…..”I did it because I can”.
Everything checks out fine, so it should shoot.
You can go back through the thread and read everything involved. Or just say,…..“this guy is nuts”

They were conceived by the Late Gene Bukys. The original idea was weight savings on a LV Benchrest Rifle.I'm curious about your acetal bolt shroud. Benefits?

An added benefit is they are extremely smooth in function.
I have long since ceased worrying about any wear issues. I have had these on my two other Farley’s for years, one my LV 6PPC and the other my HV 30BR. Both have had thousands of rounds put through them. I even made one for my Bat M when I converted it to a screw in style shroud.View attachment 1554889
It would be fun to see it win a match or two.The Frankenstein bolt looks pretty cool. I hope it's a top shooter!
If the barrel is any good, it WILL WIN.It would be fun to see it win a match or two.
Great work Jackie.Well, I got to the range this morning, broke the barrel in while fireforming 15 new cases.
Everything worked great. Extraction was flawless, the drop port functioned perfect.
I fired all of the cases again, shooting 3 shot groups with my load of 35.7 grns of N-130 behind my own 112 grn 30 caliber bullet.
Since I was limited on time, I had to get serious quickly.
Shooting into a typical Tomball crosswind, I shot the group shown. I then moved over to a score target, put myself on the clock, and shot the score target posted.
Needless to say, I am pleased. This is a good result for a rather timely, and rather difficult project. I am especially pleased how well the rifle functioned. The bolt is a little stiff on the upswing because of the 25 lb spring pressure, but I can live with it.
The picture of the bolt is the lug contact after today’s session. Pretty good. I had put some cold blue on the new bolt head to see how well everything mated.View attachment 1556414

I might lighten it up a little to see if it affects accuracy.
