Need a little help with Chargemaster dilemma

I purchased a Chargemaster light approximately 3 years ago. For my reloading it was just what I needed. I use it to get a charge then use the balance beam for fine tuning. I am not a big time reloader but I do like to get my powder charges as consistent as I can. So the motor on my Chargemaster started changing rpm's and sounded different when throwing a charge. After a few reloading sessions it now stops throwing powder before it reaches the desired charge. I called RCBS and they gave me a number for someone who repairs out of warranty Chargemaster's. The cost to repair is 179.00 plus the cost of shipping. Should I just get another new one since it would not be much more or is their another powder dispenser that maybe similar in price that is better? Is RCBS having issues with the Chargemaster lite?

The 1500 is a lot better. Tommy Mc

TBH just one accuracy data point against a balance beam I have learnt has been insufficient for me.

At one time my pet loads went outta tune then after receiving a new CM 1500 it became obvious the balance scales needed some TLC. After a good clean both scales fell into agreement and now check weights are an important part of my kit.
YMMV

Here is a link to an older thread when I had issues with my CM. So far it is still working as it should.
Hope you can get yours back and running like is should.

Good luck with it.

Thanks for the info Tim> ill give it a try

Well I took the Charge Master lite apart to just look and clean out. It had very little powder kernels inside the unit. I even cleaned out the motor housing. It had just a few kernels in there. So put it back together and tested. I really think it is the motor. I put in a charge weight and hit the dispense button. Motor seemed to run just fine. Next step was to check the trickle button. When I push the trickle button the motor just barely turns. It also has a different sound. The motor turns one full revolution in about 15 seconds. I think the motor is going.

As I recall my chargemaster link was about the same price as the repair. I used to use it for everything for a while, but now I throw with it and trickle on a creedmoor scale.

BULLET 05,
Wish it would have worked out for you.

Well a little update on my Chargemaster lite. After all the taking apart and cleaning and the motor seemed to have pepped up except for the trickle feature. I decided that when checking after the cleanout i just plugged it up and tested. I decided to let it warm up for 30 minutes and give it a try. The dispense mode did well and the trickle worked much better. Apparently the powder inside the unit did create some issues. I hope this takes care of it. Thanks Tim for the suggestion.
