It is actually a new definition of what a firearm dealer is. However the rules/regulations are so vague that you can't tell if you "might" be considered a dealer per the ATF and if they deem so, that is a federal violation of not having an FFL.A federal law requiring background checks on private sales goes into effect May 20?
O.k. I get that they don't want firearms to land in the wrong hands ie felons or someone with emotional/mental issues but a private dealer? Does this mean that if a friend or acquaintance wanted to sell something from their private collection they would have to run a bg on you and they themselves become classified as a dealer?
they also want total and complete registration so they can know where to go to get them.
this is a start
Billions... well documented that private gun ownership surpasses 3 billion firearms in the US, but yes you are absolutely correct, our treasury does not have enough money to police it on that levelWhile I don't disagree, the government finding all the guns is laughable. Uncle Sam can't even find all the NFA items on the registry currently. Add Title I items and you go from a few million firearms to hundreds of millions. Good luck!
I am 90% sure that is not accurate. I have read that some states require a background check for private sales. and it surprised me the state I read about was a pretty 'red' state.A federal law requiring background checks on private sales goes into effect May 20? Does anyone know more about this and is it true?
part of the problem is,,,, long term I don't think either party is going to be particularly happy w private gun ownership. It may take a while, but I think all central govts. over time, tend to nip away at FA ownership and or use. one of these days there will insane taxes on ammunition, powder and the like.Hopefully this will all be resolved in November! Can't happen soon enough.

They don't need to find ALL the guns - just the ones of the people they want to make an example out ofBillions... well documented that private gun ownership surpasses 3 billion firearms in the US, but yes you are absolutely correct, our treasury does not have enough money to police it on that level
This is the truth. They don't need to find ALL the guns - just the ones of the people they want to make an example out of
Drugs or guns? Its only a law if you believe it is. If you know the person you re selling to then who's to know
