Leopold

Does leopold make a good scope anymore? Are they as the old leopold scopes? I like the nightforce scopes but their so dang heavy.

Well, they have been making riflescopes since the 1940's and have offered to repair/ replace problem scopes free of charge to anyone regardless if the original owner or not and this is still true today. I just sent a 10 year old 3-9x I got on a trade and someone forced the windage adjustment past it's stop and froze it. It came back with a repair ticket stating a bunch of components were replaced. This was not their problem, yet they elected to stand by their products at considerable expense. Had the scope been a Weaver, Bushnell, Baush and Lomb, Simmons, or Redfield I would have been SOL. Those brands require original receipts and only to original purchaser, or they are no longer made or fail to offer any repair service- let alone for free. It amazes me how LeUpold still keeps their warranty on the gold-ring optics because I know how some take advantage of this. Yes, I have sent in a few other LeUpolds in for service that were clearly not performing as they did originally, but the repairs were done reasonable fast and the repaired scopes were functioning again like new- or - in the case of older discontinued models they were replaced with a new scope with similar features at no charge.

So true! I had a repair on my VX3 6.5-20x50 LR Target scope when the reticle seemed to be sticking and required the scope to be tapped with a bit of wood {lightly} to get it to move after turning the turrets..
They asked me when I need the scope back, did I need a box to return it and offered to pay the shipping back to the repair facility... WOW!! What great service and the scope was returned to me 3 days ahead of a competition just as I had requested. :)

I've had several occasions to send scopes to them. I never keep the scope caps on. They've always put new scope caps on when they return a scope.

My MK5 works very well. The glass is very nice. I tend to stick with Leupold because of their warranty/customer service I dropped an older MK4 three feet onto concrete landing right on a turret. I reserved the gun and ran a box test. Functioned as it should have. Still have it still shoot with it often.
