Action advice

I wasn’t sure where to post this but it’s going to be a 22 bra so it kinda fits in this section. I’ve built several different rifles off Remington and savage actions but think I want to do a custom this time. I really like the ones that use savage barrels and Remington stocks what do you all recommend and not really looking for real high end more of an entry to custom action. Thanks in advance

lot of custom actions around for pretty good prices. I only know about higher end ones but any of them outta serve you well. I will say a Nut gun isnt a custom to me. Just getting a part and screwing it together isnt custom to me. some will surely disagree and that is fine. That said some of the nut guns would surely shoot as accurately as you want. Nobody can really tell you what to get. its an individual choice. Id get one with Remington tenon threads.

They make a good action at a reasonable price with plenty of barrel options and added features over a R700.

Interchangeable bolt head
controlled round feed
pinned rail
mechanical ejector

They've been around a long time and most people report that they've received excellent customer service when needed.

+1 for the Zermatt Bighorn Origin action. They are extremely smooth and the interchangeability of the boat heads are fantastic. Company is easy to work with and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I believe Northland Shooters Supply carries them normally in stock.

I suggest the Kauger Viper. Takes Rem 700 threads. Has all the same features. Excellent action.

Kauger is my next action, I believe the SST is 950.00 nitrided and you can change the bolt head if you want.

Seems to me like all guns are built from parts.

If a guy can buy all of the appropriate and capable low tolerance components, picked one by one, and assemble it into a unique and capable rifle, I would say that is custom.

People have been assembling custom ar15s from select parts for decades. Bolt guns are just now catching up.

I don't know about the Kauger, but the Origin doesn't necessarily have to be a 'nut gun'.

The 2 that I have are very nice actions and I would not hesitate to buy another. I swap barrels quite a bit with them.

Kauger holds headspace. You can obviously go shouldered on any action.

Kelbly doesn't get quite the love on SH. It seems Impact, Terminus, ARC are the favorites

I don't know what 'holds headspace' means. I'm guessing it means that you can order a shouldered prefit barrel for it, like the Origin.
