THE TRUTH ABOUT BARREL MOVEMENT ???

I guess Bryan has the facts concerning barrel movement that has long been argued especially by Eric Higgins on "Believe the Target" with Erik Cortina. Tim Sellars has also agreed the barrel does in fact move prior to the bullet exit point.

I was actually surprised how little vertical barrel movement is seen, until the bullet exited the barrel. Especially when you take into consideration how much poi change occurs if you have the barrel against something solid (tree trunk, post ) left side pressure, right poi shift.

It's more than it looks but the important thing is, it's there and you see it. Love that but on stiffer br contours, it's still there, but you may not see it at this FPS video. You absolutely see it with better test equipment though.

What the “slo mo” does not show, is there sideways movement because of the barrel twist ?
Yes, there is a sideways moment, too. Not sure why anyone would question that if they'd actually shoot and test, though. But yes, I do buy that groups are typically biased vertically due to gravity. Nothing really else and the forces at play CAN be equal to the vertical forces but it's not common. No voodoo. No magic.

I will say that Bryan is onto something in terms of what happens regarding bullet flight after muzzle exit and that this is good stuff!

If anybody is gonna answer the question, it's these guys. They have their hands on a 2 million frame per second camera now. And they do videos on firearms.

If somebody @Forum Boss can get them to do a video on barrel movement then that would answer the debate once and for all

The harmonics associated with higher charge weights impacting lower on the target result in only a few thou muzzle movement, so that camera will need resolution as well as speed.

A higher muzzle velocity will also get the bullet out of the barrel quicker before recoil can lift the muzzle as much. Just ask a pistol shooter!

And why we used 452AA and a 200gr. HG-68 bullet. But still......When
you bust the cap, that barrel is moving. As I said in a previous post......
"You can't dispute Newton's laws of Motion" No matter what degree
of movement, it's still moving.....

5 or 6 years ago I came across a video in high-speed showing clearly the barrel whip. Might be still out there somewhere.
