What happened to make you not trust the powder dispenser on your Dillon..???? Did it over/under charge on you before...??? I have had real good luck with mine on my Dillon but you must keep the powder level of pretty much the name for consistent drops , don't let it get to low before adding powder... Some powders just won't flow well at all...i used to use dillons for my high volume pistol loads but i just dont trust the powder measures on progressives anymore. i still use a dillon 550 for some operations but use the redding PM for the powder. fill a tray then look in all cases with a flash lite. dont load 9mm butt have a few 5 gallon buckets of brass if you need some more.
i wouldnt blame anything on Dillon alone and i havent had any kind of overload. i just have become more cautious in my old age. so if i cant look in the case before seating a bullet i want some form of indicator that lets me know powder level on every case. Imay upgrade to a five station so i can use a powder checker but at this point i may not shoot enough to justify that. there have been blown up guns because of double charges with progressives. im not in that big a hurry these days to make it worth the risk. thanks for the advice. i to try to use powders that meter well when using a progressiveWhat happened to make you not trust the powder dispenser on your Dillon..???? Nice! 10mm is next on my list, thanks to your heads up on the brass! I have some suggestions for books!Enjoying doing the same Josh, loaded 500 rounds of 180 XTP 10mm today. Accurate #9, starline brass, listening to a good series on audible. I have a Dillon 750 set up for 9mm but the BR-30, RC, old RCBS primer are therapeutic for me. I check the weight ever. 50 rounds, it’s stayed spot on, never needed adjusting. Most rewardingly the cell is off.
I’ll check out your suggestions. I’m listening to the “Storm light series” right now, Brandon Sanderson. I like that type of stuff. I’ll let you look it up for a synopsis though, lol.Nice! 10mm is next on my list, thanks to your heads up on the brass! I have some suggestions for books!
Sci-fi- try the “Breakthrough “ series by Michael Grumley. Scientists learn to speak to dolphins, evil doers try to steal the technology, space warping aliens step in to help. Pretty good!
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. High school biology teacher helps save the earth from sun eating bacteria, meets alien race along the way to a distant galaxy to find the answer.
Historical England detective series by Ann Perry. The Charlotte and a Thomas Pitt series.
Well written, historically correct and a great reader!
Action/ military- The Terminal list series. Navy Seal takes revenge on politicians and crooked generals testing experimental drugs on fellow Seals.
I have an old FN Highpower coming in. Always wanted one. Can’t wait!
Ohhhh ok I thought maybe there was something that had happened in the past like a serious overcharge.... Absolutely nothing wrong with being careful when reloading , when I load on my Dillon I use a powder that would be overflowing if it doubled but I still take the time to look at every station on my 550 before pulling that handle.... As I mentioned when load for my 10mm I use blue dot and load pretty warm not really a hot load but a full power load... What is the sense in having 10mm and loading it down to 40 cal.... But I ended up buying the single charge die with the little funnel kit from Dillon plus a charge master because I found a discrepancy of 4 tenths with blue dot and that could get you in serious trouble when loading full power loads... Yes it cost me a lot more going that way instead of using scoops and the trickle up method but to me it's a nice and easy setup...i wouldnt blame anything on Dillon alone and i havent had any kind of overload. i just have become more cautious in my old age. so if i cant look in the case before seating a bullet i want some form of indicator that lets me know powder level on every case. I made the mistake of buying a 10 mm and a say mistake because I have to force myself to put it down and go shoot something else... I fell for the ten when it first came around and a buddy bought a colt delta... Unfortunately they went away and now that they have made a come back I ended up buying one... At first shooting rounds I bought at academy while I was waiting on brass from starline etc I thought hmm that's not really what I remember , but after loading up some full power 180gr xtp I got bitten by the bug... Fortunately for me I got back into rifles and bought a few new ones to tinker with if not I would have ended up with a 41 , 44 mag and maybe something really crazy..lol... Now I really screwed up and have gotten into long distance .22lr... Now if you want something that will really make you pull your hair out and cuss... Try some rimfire at 300 yards on a windy day...lolNice! 10mm is next on my list, thanks to your heads up on the brass! I have some suggestions for books!

I have done pretty much the same thing in the past. Only I bend a thick copper wire to 90 degrees and solder it to the "dipper" top edge. A nice loop formed for a handle and soldered makes it look professional.I take a 9mm case and drill a hole through the extractor groove and glue in a piece of brazing rod for a handle. I weigh a charge into the dipper and note the fill level and belt sand the 9mm case to that height. It usually takes a couple of tries to get right. Then just pour some powder in a bowel and dip the dipper till over full and tap on the side of the bowel to settle the powder, the tapping will level the charge with the edge of the case and you are set
Yeah, I was bitten by the 10mm bug. Everglades Ammo has some good looking 180 jacketed hollow points for $109/500 count. I just ordered some to try.I made the mistake of buying a 10 mm and a say mistake because I have to force myself to put it down and go shoot something else... 22 at 300? I’ll have to try it this summer. I picked up an old Mauser that really shoots. It’s in an old Herters varmint style stock.

$400! I feel like I stole it! The trigger was hitting the stock, imparting a 20 pound trigger pull. I think the guy thought it was broken so he dumped it cheap. Five minutes with a sharp chisel fixed it!Damn that's nice..
