Bonus Range Brass — Thank you!

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to all the great folks who leave good brass at the range! As a handloader, I am always tickled when I come away with a haul like this! I get upset with the other trash these people leave at the range, but as for the brass on the ground, I truly do thank you all from the bottom of my heart! :) LOL!

Got a pile more of 5.56 brass that I will use for my 20 TAC varmint rifle and a bunch of extra 7.62x39 brass for the battle rifle. Gotta say it was a good day ;)

Just counted the take and I got exactly 400 pieces of 5.56 brass and 72 pieces of 7.62x39 brass!

5.56 is almost all Lake City and the 7.62 brass is all PPU. I already had a lot of both types of brass, but the more the merrier! :)

Was still a bunch of snow and ice on the ground so probably a lot more to be had once things thaw more

I quit picking it up a few years ago. My time was better spent else where. I sold the majority of my range brass (several thousand)that was cleaned and sorted, took that $$$$ and ordered brand new from Starline.
I will still snag an occasional box of the new boutique empties, for friends.

Well Ledd—— i wish that much brass showed up at range i go to. mabie i get 20 rounds of 223 once in awhile. Sometimes though something really good like 300 win mag is laying there. have got a bunch of 9. I even get some manbun brass now and then so i cant gripe i guess!!— Good for you.

Best part was the dog and I had the place to ourselves the whole time. Dog found a fresh deer leg in the woods so he had a great day too! Lol.

There's a crazy amount of pistol brass there as well, but I don't pick it unless it's 44 Mag. Just stick with picking up good rifle brass for the most part.

I pick up brass while I let my barrel cool or during cold-range sessions. Some I will keep and process, the rest I send off to a brass recycler that gives me credit towards brass, etc.

I got to looking when we shoot at the Sherriff's range, and over near the tower I found 75 pieces of 308 Fed match over 2 trips. Everyone told me it was federal not to waste my time, yea right it on its 5th reload. When people here 2 or more people say something on the internet, its automatically fact. i much prefer to find out for myself. I loaded 300 rounds of 223 with 55 grain bullets for my daughters rifle that has a 12 twist, I had 300 rounds of PMC brass, so she got all the same headstamp. Having a bunch of pick ups gives you options.

I don't reload, so, if I'm shooting Federal Gold Medal Match ammo (.223 and .308) actually pick-up the brass and put it back in its original box and leave on a bench for re-loaders to find. All other brass goes in the bin provided. Never met who gets to use it, but I'm sure somebody appreciates it.

I pick up every piece i see that can be reloaded. If i dont reload that cartridge then its off to a friend that does. I look at it someday thats something that might be hard to get so id like to have some extras on hand. While yes it does take up some space, i dont think ill run out any time soon. Especially 223

I do the same and just love it when some show up down range and just fire off their magazines as fast as they can by running several magazines through their nice black rifles and the pack up a leave.
I obtained something like 60 cases of 5.56 and 50 of 308 last time out. Always sweet, to me anyway, to find nice once fired brass for free.

Do the same thing. Have more LC than I'll ever use for making BO.
Sell what I don't need to pay for $80 membership. Used to find a lot of good stuff 35 rem 300 savage ect befor hunting season... thats all dried up.

We have a public range that should be named "come make noise". It's not about hitting the target but those breaks on AR's are really loud!! The shorter the barrel and louder the break the better.

Anyways, I could pick up LC 223 or FC once fired brass till my back hurts. For my purposes shooting XTC I'll never buy brass.
