.22 ARC

Very cool little cartridge, would be ideal with the new Hornady 62 Eld-VT, to my way of thinking. Would be awesome suppressed as well. Oh no, I may have to have one! Here we go again. :p:cool:

I liked my 6 RATs - in both AR15 & bolt rifles - so much that I got another Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel and re-barreled it for 22 Grendel, then bought a Zermatt Origin action and put a 1-8tw Krieger #5 sporter contour on it, chambered with a 22 Grinch reamer. Both 22 & 6mm Grinch are very similar to the 6 RAT with 40* shoulders, but with slightly longer necks. From left to right in the photo: 22 Grendel, 22 Grinch, 6 RAT ff w/false shoulder, formed 6 RAT, and 6.5 Grendel.

Had a buddy that wanted to build a 22 arc in an AR platform for coyote hunting. So we got a unitah 18 upper they are using preferred barrels. Got some factory black box 75gr bullets. Was able to get .75" grouping while breaking the barrel in and collecting brass. Stretched it out to 400 yards with success on some clay pigeons. He was finally able to find some 62gr vt bullets so we started loading. It's not been the easiest cartridge to load for. We have tried cfe 223, h335, &varget. None have been giving any great results speeds have been 2900 to 3200. I have some accurate 2230 and some benchmark loads ready for the next range session. Hopefully we find a winning recipe of speed and accuracy.

W Boggs Like you need any convincing..LOL 5 out of 7 shots on a 36" plate at 1644yards. 88gr ELD at 3000fps. using CFE powder.
Impressive, you are a better shot than I am. Have you found the cartridge easy to tune? I'm not interesred i.n varmits, only sreel and targets

Jumping in to find info...have a Craddock bbl on order, hoping it won't be to hard to get it shooting straight consistently.?rsbhunter

I have an AR upper in 6 ARC coming next week and saw they also offer complete uppers in 22 ARC. If you have an AR-15 lower receiver, that would be the easy button

Already 3 months into a 6 month wait, I have an Aero enhanced upper, handguard, bolt etc. Barrel is paid for so...I have a 6.5 creedmoor craddock bbl ar10 that shoots way better than I deserve.....hoping lightning strikes twice! Thanks for the info...rsbhunter

What does .22ARC have that .22PPC doesn't? They look pretty similar.
More case capacity.

What I like about the ARCs (necked down Grendels) is that you can load the heaviest for caliber bullets in 6mm and 22 cal and maintain mag legths while also having more case capacity than 5.56 or 6x45 cases

I am just load testing a 22ARC bolt gun with a 22" barrel. I had to go with a 1-8 twist because of the barrel that I got. My gun really seems to like the 77MKs and the 73ELDs. 80 and 80.5 Bergers also shot well. It seems like nearly everything I have shot will shoot .6s and under for 5 shot groups. The 77MKs and 73ELDs both shoot .5 and under. I shot a bunch of 77s the other day with two different powders and 4 different loads and all of my 5 shot groups were .4s and .3s at 3100fps+ what is not to love!!

Raptor, nice groups!! What powder/ loads did you find the 80.5s like? With a 1-7" , I'm looking at 80.5 Berger full bore, 85.5 and 90 gr. Again, it's fun when they shoot like yours!!!! rsbhunter

What rifle are you using? Factory reamer specs?
Easy to tune?
Thanks
