Necking down

.012x2 + .224 =.248 0.007 under your chamber neck. Next question how much neck interference fit(neck tension) ? Certainly plenty of neck clearance. Do you have any bushings that maybe in play?

Yes 3 to 3 1/2 thousand per side I have to remeasure my brass to be sure yes I got bushing’s yes .

To your original question I think @ArtinNC has a good answer/suggestion for necking down your brass.

Other than skimming the necks it doesn't appear you need to trim to fit your chamber neck size. When when forming 22CM from 6.5CM do the cases have a tendency to form donuts, although that may not be a concern? I do not have any direct experience with 6.5CM Lapua brass to measure it and have never had a 22CM.

I guest what I’m doing is just cleaning up my necks to be more concentrate .

I guest I never have I’m not sure how a trim die works can you explain? I’ve always used bushings In Redding dies .
A trim die is made to put your brass in and file it to length , I have never used it to trim brass . But it works great as a form die , they are a little big on the ID so they will have to be run thru a Full Length die after . And I think a trim dies are cheeper .
