H4895 reduced load for fireforming?

For fireforming I found Bullseye works about the best. But,,, why waste the bullets or powder?

I found in my 6mm AI starting with 13 grains and then topping the case with corn cob media, cream of wheat, cornmeal whatever, and plugging the mouth of the case with cheap bar soap, was all I needed to blow the neck body and shoulder out. I ended up needing to go up to 14 or 14.5 grains in that case to get enough pressure to sharpen the shoulders.

6mm ppc I used 5 grains to start and went up till I got those sharp shoulders on the 220 brass, then I FL sized, run the necks thru my expanding mandrel and turned. Ready for load development.

Use the cheapest primers you can find.

Find an Accurate Load about, 3 to 4 grains, under Listed "Max chge", using some of, the Cheaper, light weight, Flat Based, Hornady or Sierra Bullets and go shoot, some,.. Sage Rats, Chucks or. PD's.
If you have, a heavyish, BRAKED Rifle, you'll be able to, SEE them,.. EXPLODE !
H-4895 is, "Pixy Dust",.. DON'T Waste it !

I have never good results 4 or 5 grains below max. I've always had to have good pressure, even using bullets I had best results with the faster powders for caliber. With loads close to the top. If not, rounded shoulders and lack of complete forming was the result, then I had to finish the job with a second loading.

Never got great results using slower powders for a particular caliber, my best results are snappy pressure, and not a slow push.

33 to 35 grains of H-4895 and 50- 55 grain Flat Based Bullets, has always provided me "fairly sharp" shoulders, in My .22-250 Rem with either of, the 4895's ( Maybe I'm just, Lucky,.. LOL ) H-4895 is NOT, Rated as,.. a "Slow" Powder.
The Sage Rats in my area, are NOT, so Lucky, tho !
The OP needs to FIND, whatever,.. "Works" for him
