The original M16/AR15 design was standardized into Mil-Specs. That is both good and bad, but for now lets take the good view, like being able to swap any good quality bolt and stay within headspace specs.Not many options out there.... For what it is worth, I think a lot of the manufacturers don't concern themselves with matching bolts in this caliber as you will be sizing brass before the first time it is fired in your chamber - allowing you to set your brass to the bolt, so to speak.
Yes - I've swapped out bolts on mine. I just measure from the bolt face to the outer locking lug rim and, as long as the new bolt measures the same or less, I continue to run ammo already loaded if the bolt change couldn't wait. I haven't run into a bolt that was more than .003" +/- longer than what I'm replacing.
