The "New .40S&W"

Well, I took a Friend’s out yesterday for sighting in; it was an experience.

Won’t fit down my Trousers, @Evan ! LOL:D
Maybe you just need bigger pants…. And suspenders. Definitely some suspenders too!

See now that’s a real gun. If the bullet doesn’t get them, the fireball of powder will! All this talk of 10mm this and 40 that. They’re all just plinkers for pop cans and paper in comparison. :D:D

I shot one of those…….once………15 years ago……..my hand still hurts!

What most of this gets down to is you have to shoot a gun that you are comfortable shooting. For personal protection you need to get out and practice with it and if it's not comfortable to shoot you won't be hitting what your aiming at, your focus will be on the discomfort that you know is coming when you pull that trigger.
Buy one you will enjoy shooting. This is true for rifles as well as pistols.

Interesting video from the Donut Operator. Officer shooting a crazy guy 12 times from 2' away, the guy is unfazed and continues to advance. Caliber unknown.

Advance to 1:30 for the shooting.

Yeah, I have been thinking about this video. It clearly takes the other guy several seconds to react to being shot. Could have done severe injury or worse to cop.

For home defense I don’t think you will beat a 12 gage shotgun with 00 buck.
I used to shoot bowling pins at 25 feet for speed. Used 45 and 10 mm.
There was also a shotgun event. I didn’t compete in that event. The difference is like night and day between the power of the shotgun vs the pistol rounds. And guys could miss with the shotgun at 25 foot distance too. When the pin was hit directly with 00 buckshot it flew off the table like it was shot out of a cannon. Big difference. You hit a human with that anywhere in the torso , well I wouldn’t want to be that guy.

I have never understood this. No the 9mm is not as powerful as the .40S&W and people saying that "it's almost as powerful as the .40" now with the new powders and bullets out still doesn't make it as powerful, ... period.

I shoot steel plates from time to time and yes I take both a 9mm and a .40S&W when I do so. When a .40 hits a steel plate it slams it down hard, when a 9mm, (147gr) hits it, it goes down but clearly not as hard or as fast.

If you watch the news you will see reports of people being shot with a 9mm and then driving themselves to the hospital. Well what if they take that time to shoot at you again instead? I mean you didn't start this but you did have to defend yourself against this person and it's very likely you don't want them to keep trying to kill you after you were forced to shoot them in the first place.

The 9mm has it's place, but it's not the "the new .40S&W" and saying so to sell more ammo won't help you if that person keeps shooting at you when you are forced to defend yourself. You may want to think about that.
The 9mm created the double tap through necessity

Chicago bears ???
I’m not a Bears fan but they’re not that bad. I finally found some ammo today on my way back from San Antone. It doesn’t look very impressive. I guess I’ll have to shoot some and read my manual.
