1884 Trapdoor, 405 gr 45-70. 60 year old eyes and a buffington rear sight, sharp downhill shot....clean miss low, plowed a furrow though!

Tomorrow is the last try for a simple shot at a doe, so I can say I was the last Freshwater to kilt a dar with the old Springfield, after great granpappy shot one stem to stern...

I hope you get to connect with that trapdoor or the M88 if it’s sunny. Pretty cool using family heirlooms to hunt with, I’m sure Dad and Grandad would be proud!

Well, tomorrow is it for regular Pa buck season. Good luck guys, it's going to be a nice day so spend it in the woods, can't get many from the couch. One observation from the first day. I saw to guys in their 30s, one had a buck, the other a doe. Every other hunter I saw was minimum of 60, most 65 or so. Sad.Stay alert, be safe, and shoot straight.
