Jewell triggers

Just a rumor but I heard they had problems finding a new company to stamp out the side plates. No idea how true that is or isn't. Seems like another $100/trigger would fix that. Lol!

Yes, I was referring to the trigger. Thanks.

Someone should talk to the family about the possibility of a revival of production. I got my hopes up for a second that’s what you meant.

I remember when they sent me eight BR no safety triggers, directly, as I could not find any in stock. I thought that should supply me forever, not a chance.

You would think an extra Franklin on the price would encourage them to keep it going, but maybe not. The market would handle it IMO.

But then again, not sure if it's white or whole wheat, but I believe they're toast....

Same here, I'm afraid. But yes, a company that put out a jewell trigger for $275ish(br model) would sell all they can make, I think.

We've had a number of posts in the past where I have direct knowledge of the subject but chose to keep quiet, usually for 1 of 2 reasons. One of which was that people have asked me not to share the details.
Understandable for sure.

That being said a company that had a cult following like Jewell did/does (myself included) owes it to its customer base to at least issue some kind of “we appreciate the business over the years but we’re done” announcement.

… or perhaps they’re trying to negotiate a deal to sell their proprietary/customer info to a new manufacturing interest?

A TriggerTech Diamond is $310 to $320. A Jewell is superior to a TriggerTech in my opinion. And goes lighter.

Maybe one should consider the pricing model of the Jewell trigger was unsustainable and that's why they are now out of business. They probably made business decisions to keep their prices unsustainably low, and it cost them the entire business.

I'm pretty sure there are several versions in the works as we speak. Hopefully they will choose domestic parts suppliers.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone started importing them from China. Certainly the parts.

I also preferred my Jewell to a TT Diamond. I often wondered why Jewell triggers were priced so much lower than TT or BnA - although, I did like the BnA [TacSport] better than the TT but only because it was a two stage.

Sounds like to me Jewell was undercutting their own dealers with unsustainable pricing using their website.

Which is not all too uncommon these days.

This is for Rem 700's....what is everybody using to take the place of the Jewell triggers with the safety and bolt release, nothing seems to get that lite? I still have 1 with safety/bolt release and a BR model put back but would like to find something to replace them with. Have had a Timney which was all right but believe I could get the factory trigger as good as it was...

Good point. Or they were hit with a big product liability law suit, or not and they felt it was the best time to depart Dodge City?

If I could offer advice to Brian Jewell (or any potential new owners), that advice would be:

Make 1 (one) part numbered trigger. Period. Done.

The HVR would be all that's needed for 95% of users. Change the springs to go as low as 1.5 oz and up to 3 lbs. Charge a premium price as it's a premium product.

Good shootin' :) -Al

There are almost as many people who want the straight BR as the HVR. And they absolutely positively will not accept anything but the basic BR.
