Chronographs

I have both. I love my Labradar, but the garmin is much smaller and less finicky. If I was on A budget, I would go for a Labradar and try to
Grab one as a set for $300, If you had ability to spend more, then go right to the $600 garmin

When I was testing that new Bartlien Mod 400 barrel last Sunday shooting over my Oehler 35 Chronograph several shooters had Lab Radars at the range, and one had a new Garmin,

The Garmin was a tiny little thing on a dinky little tri pod.

So they set each one up on my bench on the right side. The Garmin recorded within 5 fps of my Oehler, the LabRadar didn’t register. So they “re aimed” the LabRadar, and I fired another shot. The same results. The LabRadar didn’t register.

The LabRadar is a little more sophisticated device than the Garmin. It has some downrange data capability. However for muzzle velocity the Garmin should a capable unit. both claim the same accuracy.

It all seems what you want to do with it and what you expect. I like the LabRadar as it gives me some down range data, especially for the projectiles that don't have published BC's like cast bullets for the BPCR rifles and multiple different rimfires. It does take a little tweaking and time to sort through the details. There are multiple ways of making the LabRadar work, in my experience best results are with a recoil activated switch.

If I have a lot of time to spend fiddling, I set up the 35P and it's info is second to none for MV.

My latest has been the Bulletseeker, mount it to my rest, the barrel, or a chassis and it compares to data I get from the 35P without any effort. A friend showed up with a Garmin and it requires as little effort as the Bulletseeker just a tiny bit less $$, only slightly larger than the Bulletseeker.

I've seen a few ads for the LabRadar slightly used at just 50% of what I purchased mine for, if you can find one I'd get it and never look back. A "shakey switch" recoil trigger, an Anker 10KmAh battery and you're off and running.
My 2¢

I saw a "like new" LabRadar, with a few accessories, posted for $275 the other day. Now that's a good deal.

I sold my LabRadar with accessories and shipped it in the Apache case. It cost me $50 just to ship it by the least expensive method at the USPS. Looked for deal that includes shipping.

No doubt Lab Radar has avoided an issue is by not including a trigger with their unit. With a trigger I have never had an issue with either a powder burner or an air rifle. But I laugh at the mentality of, Hey there is a new one, it does a little less than my old one, but it's new gotta have it. How long until the next new one doing pretty much the same thing, Gotta go get it.

I am selling my magneto speed v3 for $250 but will entertain offers. I have used several over the years and like the magneto speed but have to say if you are wanting something that is easy and portable the Garmin Xero C1 is hard to pass up as long as you don't mind spending $600.
