You Can't Be Serious.

The other way around would have been worse. Lol
I know your joking and yes that would be bad. LOL. A 7mm bullet with the same case length will not even get close to closing in a 27 caliber bore. now a 7mm 08 length case.. that would be different.
This last sunday a guy filled his Magazine for his Ulta Ninja SCAR 17 in 308 with 6.5 Creedmoore ammo. COuldnt figure out why it got stuck and would not fire or extract. It was way up in that 308 chamber...LOL.

Just watched the video on YouTube; it was a DEA agent; the idiot has hair down to his shoulders. As he's talking to the class he states that he's the only one qualified enough to carry this Glock 40 as he's holstering the firearm, then it goes off. Sorry, I couldn't stop laughing. If you want to watch it the caption is "DEA Idiot shoots himself teaching gun safety." The one thing I couldn't understand is why someone would think it's necessary to have his firearm loaded, let alone with one in the chamber, when he's teaching a classroom full of kids.
The one that is the absolute worst in history is the guy demonstrating some LE scenario. Takes a school teacher from the audience and proceeds to shoot her dead with a live round. I think she was a school teacher.

I was in Zimbabwe in late 2008 hunting Cape Buffalo. A gentleman arrived a day early. From NY, NY. Had a beautiful Weatherby 460. Rifle still in the cardboard box, Wby scope still in the box. Wby rings still in the plastic hanger box, two boxes of 460, one softs, one solids. Very nice guy, commodities broker in his late 20's.
We got to talking, and he liked my bull. Asked me if I would "stick all this stuff together for him...". The PH tells him he will. They stick a target on a tree, and he cuts loose. I think the rifle flew 15 feet in the air, he went about that far backwards before he landed. Standard "Weatherby Eyebrow...". IIRC, eleven stitches by the PH to close the gash.
The PH suggests he use the camp rifle, a nice Mauser in 375H&H. Client asks me over dinner if I would accompany him and the PH, just as a back up.
The next day, we track a nice herd, and he sets up a clean shot at about 50 yards. PH suggests I shoot, just to make sure the bull goes down on schedule. He shoots, and a second later the PH and I take safety shots. Cape Buffalo are the most fun hunting, but they scare me a wee bit. Early the next season, another newbie wounds one, and the PH gets tossed by the bull. He was out of commission nearly a year with the surgeries and rehab.

Some days...

A few years ago a friend of mine built a .375 without a brake. I was at the range the day he tried it out. He had 100 rounds of reloads on the bench. I asked how come so many. He said that is what it took to break the gun it. He had a 1980s 3-9 scope with about 2" of eye relief. I told him that was way too many rounds. I watched him crowd the gun in anticipation of the recoil. I told him he was going to be a member of The Scarlet Eye club if he fired it that way. Of course he blew me off. Said he had a scope just like that on his .338 Win Mag. Can't remember for sure but the second or third got him really good. He actually let me take this photo. Not to long after he had a new scope and a muzzle brake.

Just watched the video of the LEO guy negligently discharging a firearm in a room full of school children. After which, they bring out an AR15. The smartest person in the entire room was the student who said "Put it down!"

Yeah. We often forget about this point.

Not gun but hunting related, I'm in a big maple tree, still in heavy leaf, in a hedgerow overlooking a cut corn field. I have a deer deke out exactly twenty yards. It was the type that had a battery operated flicking tail. About fifteen minutes before shooting hours are over, I hear a whoosh. I figured it was a bird busting out of brush to my right. A minute or so later, I hear a thump. l look out and there's a guy with a crossbow sneaking up on my deke. I didn't yell, figured after two shots and the deke still standing there with one bolt stuck in him, he would see what it was. No dice, he sends another one and thump, a perfect gut shot and it's laying on the ground. Now I'm starting to get agitated and I yell, "YO, WTF are you doing ***hole? You actually think that a deer in an open field is going to stand there while you take three shots at it"? Won't bore you with the rest of the story but I understand after this incident was reported, he wasn't allowed to hunt alone. This was another one of those "Are you serious".

You’re probably lucky he at least knew deer don’t hang out in trees!
Dale: I stopped hunting Southeast Pa. Back in the 80s. Too many half drunk idiots shooting at anything that moved. There was a crew of guys that drove around the fields in pickups, shooting out of the beds while running down deer. They’d be gone before the cops got there.

Given the accident reports in Missouri I concluded that if anyone ever asked a hunting companion to climb a tree after a squirrel then the companion should expect to be shot.

Can't imagine how such a scenario would ever sound reasonable in the first place. I can only reason that alcohol was involved.

When I lived in Az, we rode horses/mules multiples times a week. A husband/wife team the wife and I rode with loved the area just South of Flagstaff. We rode close to and with elk all the time, never saying a word, so all they saw was the horse/mule.

The husband wanted for the two of us to put in for bull tags on a buddy system, and we got drawn. I told him we would have to go and sight in our rifles and get some practice at some distance.

Fast forward to two weeks prior to the hunt. He shows up at the rifle range with his new Rem 7600 in 30/06 with a box of 55g Accelerators. We loaded all the stuff up, went to the local gun store and I suggested that he purchase three boxes of Federal Premium 180g Partitions. We both got our bull elk!

People who have been hunting all their lives and have NO clue how to adjust iron sights or a scope on their rifle...none!

Our club used to put on a sight in day late October. Last year no one showed up.
My club did the same thing for a few years , putting in the local papers that ANYONE could come to the range free of charge and check/sight in their rifle. We had a RO on hand for both weekend days, if it was over a week before season no one would come. If it was the weekend just prior to season opening, you needed to take a #. As to the best, one guy at 50 yds shot 5 rounds at a 24" square piece of cardboard, I took a quick peek thru my Binos when he finished emptying his mag. His shots hit every corner of the cardboard, none in the center. When I asked how "Ole Betsy" was shooting, "close enough to kill a deer" . His Brother -in-law told me later that he had a chance at a huge buck and didn't get it. Wonder why.

We are getting closer to the main firearms deer season in Missouri, so the state range I volunteer at has been swamped everyday, which is good, better prepared for success.
One particular " Incident " stuck out for me.
A guy waves me over to help him with a jam on his bolt action.
I provide a rubber mallet and he taps the bolt open and removes the stuck round
7mm PRC in a 7mm Rem Mag rifle
He swears that the big box store recommended it

The only public ranges I felt 100% safe was Arizona; clean, well designed and immaculate condition with great supervision. There was a four dollar fee for admission. It was a hell of a deal.
You may be able to complement the Ben Avery range but the range in Kingman is a mess it appears it is happy to remain that way. Invariably some other shooter ignores the range rules and waves their gun around then turn to Karen when confronted. Target stands and stand holder system is really sad.

This problem appears to occur regularly. Some seem to blame the salespeople.
Personally I believe the responsibility lies with the firearms owner. For instance, if a driver purchased a vehicle and promptly wrecked it, no one would blame the dealership. If a motorist puts diesel fuel in a gasoline engine, no one would blame the service station and that's the way it should be.
It's the responsibility of the owner of the firearm to know what ammunition is safe to use and how to identify it. Frankly if they don't know how to do that then they need to find a person who can explain it to them and to listen and understand.

Ignorance is not a viable excuse.

But you don't understand. What you suggest would take PERSONAL responsibility. It is always somebody else's fault.

When I look around, the failure to accept personal responsibility and the failure to hold people personally responsible is one of this country's biggest problems.

You expect this behavior in children and *if* you're a responsible person you correct it when it happens.

Right now a large segment of society is behaving exactly like spoiled, undisciplined children. Some of them are 6, 7 or more decades of age.

Had a hunter show up the Friday before opening day, with his bore sighted 300 weatherby, and a Texas hunter blind on a 16ft trailer. We went and helped him stand up his blind and anchor it off, while secretly laughing about house chances of seeing anything. We sighted his gun in, and the next morning off he went following his 100 ft roll of survey tape to his stand. Lo and behold, he's beating in my door at seven thirty wanting help with his deer. He had shot a nice ten point, and played his new rifle on the ground to point the direction it was. Me and Dad got dressed and got it his scout with him to head back to his stand. About half way there, another ten point chased a doe across the road and behind a bunch of cedars. He jumps out and gives chase with a 30/30 he had in a window rack. Me and Dad are getting a good laugh by now, until we hear a shot, and shortly, here comes back dragging a really nice ten point. We loaded it up and went to his stand, where I followed the rifles direction and found his other ten point! Never killed a deer in his life, and he's shot out in the first hour of opening day! (Besides does) He had no idea what to do with em, so I gutted em and sent him to the processing place. He had just inherited a little business called jolly rancher. Dang nice guy, and lucky as the Dickens!

I once worked with a guy who announced he had drawn a coveted NV antelope tag, and wanted advice on how to proceed. He had his dad's old 30-06 with a scope. I asked him how he had it sighted in. "Oh, it don't need it, it's always shot just fine." How long had it been since he tried to hit anything with it? "Oh, years and years. I've been dragging it around with me from town to town a long time." Would he please allow me to take it out and sight it in with him? "Nope, I'm just going hunting, thanks just the same." At work the next week I asked him how he had done. Looking sheepish, he said "Well, I should have listened to you. I shot up a box of ammo at several antelope fairly close by, and never so much as scared one. I have no idea where those bullets landed."
