69 grain seirra tipped MKs

kochie,

I've shot the HPBT out of bolt and 20"+ ARs accurately to that distance. I wouldn't be trying to humanely take anything down with it at that distance. You need a larger caliber and heavier bullet at that distance.

HTH,

For 600- 800 yards on Coyotes, you'd most Probably want, a good Sized, VERY accurate, largish, 6 MM shooting, 90 / 95 grain, min to 108 grain, Varmint or, Hunting ( Elite ) HP's, ELD-M's or, ELD-X's,.. IMO
I use, a very accurate, 10 Pound, Braked, 6 XC with, 103 Grain, ELD-X's at, just over, 3,000 FPS.
My .22-250 is for, area's that are,.. Sub, 400 yard, shots and, NO wind.

Those or if you can find them, 77TMK’s, or much easier to find and cheap any of the 75gn and up ELD-M’s. The 77TMK’s and 75 ELD-M’s are probably good for a max of 800 but the others will run beyond. Both the 77 and 75 would be hovering around 1600 FPS at 800 out of the 22CM. The 88’s might be pushing it with the 8TW but some have made it work w/CM velocities. The 80 ELD-M’s might hit the sweet spot here.

Ok thanks will look in to other bullets thank again all good information

Will this bullet reach out there 800 yards like for PDs or coyotes? 22 CM 1/8 twist
Do you already have a bunch of 69 tmks? If so load them up and shoot them to 800. I ran them out of a 22 grendel at 3300 and dropped dogs 500 yards out, I would think plenty of kill power on prairie dogs and gophers at 800, now maybe not blow apart power, but kill them. With 22cm I would guess 3400to 3500fps would be some more stank on them

Just an FYI for coyotes I am having very good luck with the Hornady 80gr ELDM in my 22-6mmAI 8.5 twist. I got them going 3580. Coyotes at 100-150yds broadside and no exit. Got one yote at 430yds and it was 22cal in and out broadside. But dumped him like a ton of bricks. Only had issues on blowing up pelt when I hit bone from shoulder/spine.

Ok thanks I have some 75 edlm bullets

For many years I shot a 22-243AI, 8 twist, with the 75gr A-Max (moly) bullet at 3,670fps. This load was amazingly accurate, and it dropped fat PA groundhogs out to 1,000yds without issue.

I have tried a lot of different bullets at around 400-500 yards on coyotes and such. Problem at that distance is you lose both hydrostatic shock effect and most bullets out of a .223 won't open up properly - just zip a hole in them. The Berger 73 worked the best for me in keeping the speed up (start hot) and seemingly opening somewhat better than the others. If someone could come up with a 75 grain high-BC varmint bullet that had the terminal performance of a Varmint Grenade - I'd be one happy guy. Hornady is doing a lot of press on their new 62 or 64 grain (?) varmint bullet coming out for their new version of the .22 Nosler and Valkyrie. The BC might make up for some weight, but I still think it will be more or less a 350-400 yard deal. They haven't (that I've seen) shown all the numbers. I think running that new bullet in other .224"-based varmint rigs like .22 Nosler, .223 Rem and the Valkyrie might be very interesting.. Of course, it will probably be a year or two before I get my hands on some to try.

Yes it’ll work. Won’t expand much, but won’t be any worse than hitting one at 40 yds with a 22lr. Concerns about humanly killing??…. We’re talking about prairie dogs here, not deer. It’ll run off after you shoot it and die quick enough. No worse than someone saying they double lung shot a deer and it ran 40 yds and died. And people think thats good!
I shoot the 60gr TMKs in my 22Creedmoor and have some 600 yds kills with it. It’ll still hump them up good at that range by nothing spectacular. I image the 69s will just pin hole them at 800 if you can hit them.
