Target pulling match???

I do appreciate all of the locations listed, helpful tips, tricks and comments. I did make it to Oak Ridge, TN for the long range match last weekend, the range was beautiful and shooting over that valley really messed with the wind (it was a little different than shooting over a swamp). Pulling targets was not difficult and while pulling for the better shooters (only 9's or better) I was soon in a rhythm of around 6-7 seconds. It was a great experience and one that I needed under my belt. The downside of the trip was the 7.5 hour drive, due to traffic the trip up was close to ten hours and then a eight hour drive home. There was also a Tennessee Volunteers football game in town Saturday so the hotel stay was quite costly.

All in all it was a great experience and I'd love to take another crack at that wind!

Have a great day,
Chris

Here's a tip: Next time you go up to Oak Ridge to attend a match at the ORSA Range, go to the Comfort Inn, Rutgers Ave, and ask them for the "ORSA rate", since you will be shooting there. $75.00, has been for years, no matter what's going on.

Sweet, that's about half of what I paid for a crappy Days Inn smoking room (I quit 20 years ago) and the shower and sink had to run for close to 20 minutes to get hot water. That will make it easier to make the trip again.

Thank's,
Chris

If there is going to be a target pulling contest, Zilla needs to be the shooter. You haven't pulled targets until you've pulled one he is shooting. No time for dilly dallying when he is shooting.

Yep...that's the last amenity for attending ORSA matches. My fondest concerned Big Ed's Pizza. Back in the 1980's thru around 2012, the owner "Big Ed", a former Marine Corps competitor, would open up his facility exclusively to the ORSA shooters on Sunday afternoon following the big matches. Free pizza/beer without limit. The Marine Corps Team and the AMU were always glad to come to ORSA when they could. Gone are the days.

I love pulling for Ninja. It makes it easy when your pulling for a fast shooter and they keep it in the center. @Zilla
Until, at 600, they shoot a 200-23X. Then it is time to say F... the pasters, keep the spotter in the same hole until they bust a 10! ;) I pulled for Jim when he set the record of 23X at Palo Alto. No way was I gonna hold him up for target repair. I think he was releasing the shots before I could get the target to the top of the frame. He has an impeccable sense of timing. LOL

I pulled for him at the Nationals in 2019. That was exercise. I know what you're saying about breaking the shot before the frame was all the way up! I didn't think belt-fed weapons were allowed....
