Any Kiwis out there?

I live in Dunedin and would've recommended some awesome scenery and must do's to see in the South Island.
Looking at your list of places you visited you've missed the best parts of the South Island and need to come back to the South Island to see the treasures we have, the West Coast, Doubtful Sound, Milford Sound, TranzAlpine train trip, Kaikoura, The Catlins, Nelson and Stewart Island to name a few.

I've also been to the US, visited 26 states and met a lot of people............Kiwi
Good Lord grant me the health and money and I'll be in touch with you. Its a brutal ride from the Eastern US, but worth it. Thanks

Back in the mid 80s, I wintered over in Antarctica. Christchurch was the entry/exit point for was. A lot of kiwis on contract at McMurdo, and Scott Base was just over the ridge.

I volunteered to spend the Christmas holiday with a kiwi family, which was very nice. There were 4 generations there that day. Very hospitable folks. And very traditional meal.

Was able to catch my first trout on fly. That prompted me to learn fly tying over the winter, and fly fish off and on as can.

And the beer…. quite nice. I found that a “jug” of Lion Brown was just the thing.

Nine years later I made it back. I would recommend New Zealand to anyone. I believe in my two trips I spent about 45 days in country. My only complaint is that that wasn’t long enough.

I know my limits, everytime I've visited the USA I've flown into LA and over nighted there then done the next flight the following day.
I once did Indy, La, Auck then Dunedin and wouldn't want to do that again.

When you feel like braving the flights let me know and I'll give you some guidance of what to see.
Where do you live?

Central North Carolina.
Fly out of Raleigh Durham

Thanks so much
On our last trip to the US we drove down Skyline drive and Blue Ridge Parkway and spent some time in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Met with Mr Baity, Falcon Actions and stopped at a lot of places on that trip, nice bit of country.
This was a small part of our trip that time and we enjoyed all of it

Not hijack your thread, but. In 2000 I went over to the Blue Ridge to shoot the US 1000 yard Nationals at Hawks Ridge. I also visited Mr Baity. Met some other "greats"...Bill Shehane for one. Beautiful country great people. Would love to see New Zealand.

New Zealand is but a short plane ride away.
Back in 2001 and 2017 a number of US shooters visited and every one of them I've talked to since say that New Zealand is a place they would love to come back to or move to.
While I live here and know the beauty that we have on our doorstep there is some beautiful scenery in the USA you won't find in NZ.

Living in the Blue Ridge Mtns. myself, I can assure you it's beautiful here, however I'd like to visit NZ sometime before I can't get out and about.
I've only met one Kiwi, and he's was probably one of the coolest guys I've ever met. We were at the
Lincoln Electric plant in Ohio at the same time. Funny thing was him going on about my F-250 diesel.
He said you guys don't have big utes like that over there.

An introduction to New Zealand farming. Fred Dagg is an NZ institution, here portrayed by Kiwi legend John Clarke. He later moved to Aussie and passed away not so long ago. There's a lot of content on YouTube if you search for him.

Bloody legend!

As with the Toyota Hilux ads with Barrie Grump. True Kiwiana.

I was fortunate enough to watch the boys play and beat Ireland last weekend at Le Stade de France. (And the France vs Boks game. The Argies tomorrow shouldn't be hard. Then it's on to the final. The only real World Cup worth watching!

G’day

I’m a Kiwi who has lived in Australia for 18 years .
NZ is a beautiful place and we still own property there and return every Christmas to see family and friends.
Buttt……. There is more to living in a place than just scenic beauty .
New Zealands economy and opportunities have been squandered over the last 35 years by left leaning governments and Woke hand wringers.
As I say to my Australian mates “ I didn’t leave New Zealand, New Zealand left me “
New Zealanders are like the frog in the hot water , they don’t realise how things have changed in their once great country .
Now that can be said about everywhere to some extent, but New Zealand is leading the charge .
I still love NZ , and will be sitting in a boat this Christmas catching Blue Cod in the Marlborough Sounds with a big smile on my face , but I’m also a realist.
