Being 68 years young, I've had more than my fair share of the "idiots in action." When I was 16-17 growing up in Michigan, my father set up a hunt where we were invited to hunt on a gentleman's property who worked with my dad. Borrowed a motor home and my brother, father nephew and I made our way north. The gentleman had about 300 acres and there were two other similar sized properties on either side. We learned that the property west of us had family there together with mom and dad hunting. Second morning of the hunt we heard a shot on the property line and my nephew went over to see if they needed help. The wife was seated by herself sitting on a large rock, watching the power line that crossed the property. When my nephew asked her if she'd shot a deer she responded that she'd taken a "sound" shot. When he inquired what she meant, she explained that she'd heard what she thought was a deer in the bushes across the power line so she'd shot into the bushes. When he asked if she'd seen a deer , she said no, that her husband had told her about taking sound shots so that's what she'd done.
My father had us move to the other end of the property as far away from her as we could get and ended up cancelling the hunt, leaving the next morning.
