I chuckle/cringe when I see used barrels on the sale forum. “$300……only 2000 rounds down the tube!”If the discussion has turned to barrel REMOVAL on a scrap barrel then yes, I can see that. It's not like there's any value to the barrel but scrap anyway. It's not something I would do to a good barrel barring some sort of emergency though.
I set all of mine at 40 lbs. Never had one loosen up. Easier to get off when the time comes and less possibility of damage.My local gunsmith - just back in, agreed to put my barrel back on ASAP, which was this afternoon. Nice!
He used a torque wrench set at 100 lbs.
