Remington 700 Alpha 1 action/rifle

I started a post on Predator Masters about the Alpha 1. According to some Remington has fixed a lot of what was wrong with the 700 action. There were two rifles at a local shop in Tulsa where I looked at them. They are nice enough and several new features but also carried a price of $1800+. Timney trigger, side bolt release, carbon fiber stock and 5R rifleing. Also fluted bolt and interchangeable bolt handles. I watched several videos on the Alpha 1 but none talked of accuracy. I'd like to think my money went to improved accuracy and not just bling.

If these things are machined to close tolerances like he claims then a new guy wanting to try benchrest could get into it fairly right. We need to encourage the kids to get to shooting.
At least get them involved until the hook is set. I started with a Savage topped with a Sightron SIII to shoot a few club matches. Well a lathe, Mill, multiple guns, scales, trimmers, annealer, rests,…. A new truck might be cheaper. Just glad I have an understanding wife.
I would like to have one of the new Alpha receivers to play with. Just not at 1800.

I've never met a 700 worth $1800.
Agree,.. I built a New Custom, 6 XC with a Criterion Barrel, H-S Precision stock, New Nickeled Floor plate / guard from E-Bay , Bbl Lug, Best Jewell trigger @ $250ish, and a New Rem 700 SS, Short action for about, that !
It'll put 5, 107 SMK's or, 80 gr. FB Bergers, into, one Hole,.. 2's and 3's for about,.. $1,800. total, without scope.
Won't win, a BR match, but it'll scare, the yotes and sage rats,.. real, good !

With a bit of patience for 1800.00 you will find a decent used built bench rifle. I laugh at guys spending close 2 grand for s factory rifle in spite of advice they are given and then end up less than happy with how it shots....or doesn't. I see it every year usually at least twice.

I talked to guy at the range that had one. I hadn't heard of them, and was quite shocked at the price point. He told me the price was linear. The gun cost twice as much as his Tikka, and the groups were twice as big as well!

Has anyone here tried one yet?
Regardless of Weather the rifle is a shooter or not, if nobody here (all of us gun nuts…) has bought and shot one, that leaves a pretty dismal picture of it from a business and sales standpoint
How long have they been readily available?
