Remington alpha 1 308

At this price, you can put together a rifle at home that is far superior in every way.

Origin, EVO 2, whatever.
Criterion, Shilen prefit.
Pick a chassis.
A good trigger.

Probably all to your door for ~1800

I can’t for the life of me see paying that for, that. Just a thought, no offense intended.
With the prices of factory rifles these days and the good chance of getting a complete dud I will probably never own another one. I trust Zack Donovant - ODCR with all my custom builds simply because ( IF ) I ever needed to resolve an issue I can count on him to do whatever it takes to make it right and his prices are the best I have found.

It’s a lesson I learned a while back. Save your money and spend it on a craftsman who will build you what you want. The result is all but guaranteed to meet your expectations and the cost is forgotten faster than the bitterness of a not-so-cheap factory rifle that doesn’t deliver on the advertised performance. Factory guns are a waste of money when you have expectations for the fit, finish, and function.

A lot of gloom and doom here, but your rifle shoots 1/2 inch groups with ammo you had on hand. I suspect you can whittle that down with load development. Many "custom builds" don't do better than 3/4-1" at 100 yards. I think you should be a lot happier than some would tell you. Just my 2 cents!

I call timney today left a message for the tech team to please give me a call concerning the trigger we will see what comes of it I can't believe Remington was so simple with the email that they sent me

It is “possible” that under contract Timney is supplying black triggers to differentiate between their offerings. That doesn’t explain the trigger pull though.

Kinda crappy email from Remington. Maybe you should send their marketing team a link to this thread. I’m sure there is probably a disconnect between the two.

Remington is advertising the alpha 1 comes factory with a timney elite hunter trigger ok I have several timney elite hunter triggers everyone adjusts from 2# - 4# the trigger I recieved in my alpha 1 is 3# - 4# Remington advertisement for the new timney impact trigger is adjustable 3#-4# I explained this to Remington in my first email along with other concerns about the rifle I'm now waiting to hear back from timney

So I talked with customer service at timney and they advised me that the trigger I recieved in my alpha 1 will not adjust below 3# and that it is exclusively made for Remington useing the elite hunter name and that the impact trigger and the elite are the same trigger and I said well the elite hunter trigger I have in other guns of mine adjustment down to 2# they said it a Remington request

What are you trying to do,.....put Remington out of business again LOL
It sounds like they’re doing it all on their own. If you were launching a new flagship product from a reformed , restructured failed Company…wouldn’t you make damn sure that product was the best it could be??? If the gun described is the New Remington’s best work, I see another bankruptcy in their future…..

I’ll be honest, as much as I see what Adam and most “accurate shooters” would hope for, I think Remington is trying to play it safe. Remember, they have been burned in the past with “trigger problems”. Most manufacturers will play it safe and sell something that the average guy is not going to “get in trouble with”, especially in today’s lawsuit happy society. Just like Ford and Chevy put out vehicles that most people can drive to the grocery store and not necessarily be appealing to the “hot rodders”
Just for the record - I would have hoped for a better trigger myself.

Hell, that’s bait and switch in my opinion of their advertising!

True dat

On a side note, I did look at a 700 tactical 308 today a friend of mine picked up this week. It was pretty decent overall, same trigger as the Alpha Adam has described. It only had a couple of “minor” issues. One, when closing the bolt there is an audible click. Two, the jewelling of the bolt ( why, on a tactical type rifle? ) was poorly executed; it wasn’t uniform nor even.

They don’t need my help. We have the rem 700 clones that are better. Back when you went to Walmart and got a donor 700 for $400 and built off that I could see the point. Now, there’s no point.

If a regular mustang was the same price as a Shelby, what would a guy buy??
