Varmint shooting extreme

It is that time of year again where the yellow jackets are out in force. I have set up a tgt 25 yds out and shoot from the bench. The tgt is a piece of cardboard smeared with peach or apricot jam. The yellow jackets love both. I am shooting a p70 PCP air rifle that shoots 1/4 groups at 25 yds. I am loading and firing just as fast as I can for about three to four hrs a day with breaks to re-air the rifle. So far, I have killed over 2000 yellow jackets. I put ten pellets down then when those pellets are gone, marked my book to keep track of the kills. If I happen to miss a hornet I pull an extra pellet out of the can, that way I know I have ten kills. My success rate is running at 95%. I am shooting indoors to out. The first 10 yds there is no wind to account.
I go out and smear the tgts at first light and am surprised at the number of hornets are on the tgt still interested in the jam smeared the day before. Moving slowly putting the jam on with the few hornets there in the morning, I have avoided being stung. (So far), I got stung a week ago mowing the lawn and still have a slight amount of swelling where stung. That is when war was declared.

My Vizsla(10+ yo) got hit 4 times last week. He picks up apples and brings them to me, that's how he made them mad. So the war was on, I made traps, found a nest in a old railroad tie. They die in large numbers with drowning traps in the Apple trees.

Buy WD-40 in the gallon can and a WD-40 spray bottle. Not a long range weapon, but closer in it works super. Some say liquid dish soap works well also, neither are as much fun as an air rifle.

Love this!
Another really fun bug safari is walking thru a field and jump shooting grasshoppers. Use .22 rat shot. Too much fun (but kinda expensive these days)

I would love to do that! Sadly, the minicipality decided to "improve" the lot behind my house and what used to be open field with no one in sight is now a PLAYGROUND! Gone are my days of whacking various critters from the window. Air gun is just the ticket and I would love to do what you are doing. Post some photos! Hornet carnage is worth a sneak peek

I declared war on carpenter bees. They were making large tunnels bored into my deck. Hard to believe how large of a hole they make in a short time.

Go to Amazon look for Permethrin takes about 1.5 oz per gallon spray the affected area this is what the Exterminators use, I sprayed a lean-to that I keep my tractor in three years ago I have only seen maybe one a year and he was on the ground dead.

I must say this is so wonderfully a great idea - I am going to give it a try with my new Tikka T1X during the next range session.

I might even give up groundhog hunting and become a bug hunter. Lot less stress on the body and a lot more targets. :):):):):) Only thing I am wondering is whether I can confirm a kill since the 40 grain 22 LR bullet might sent the critter into a hundred pieces assuming I hit it.
