6mm reamer / 115 DTACs

Been reading that I should get the longer reamer for the DTACs in a 6mm, not the SAAMI. But I can't find the recommended min freebore and don't want to sound entirely ignorant when shopping a few smith's

Also, will that longer freebore shoot the 105 hybrids decently as well? I've stocked up on DTACs but would be nice to not be limited.

Any recs/inputs on a best overall freebore for those two bullets?

It depends on your actual cartridge. If you tell a gunsmith you want a “6mm SAMMI” you’ll def sound ignorant!

You want 160 freebore minimum. I would probably go 180 or even 200 if you plan on shooting dtac exclusively. If you are talking about a 6br.

After doing a a study of freebores I've come to the conclusion that 160 is appropriate for pretty much everything for an 80 up in a 6br or 6xc which both have the same neck. Most people are shooting way too short. Search for a thread called Next Generation Varmiter. I have all of the pictures there and you can see what I'm talking about. I see no advantage whatsoever to running the bullet way down in the neck It just exacerbates all of the problems. I even ordered a new 6BR ackley Reamer with 160 FB because after shooting the tubb 6xc with the 160 FB I found out it's just pretty much ideal for everything above an 80 including the varmint bullets and hunting bullets.

The Sammi is 183. Pretty long.

A lot of my varmint hunting customers are discovering some of the new calibers, stocks and chassis options that are available today. Many are traditionalists. Long story short I'm going to be doing a new build for pdogs and I will be using a 6bra barrel on a Mack Bros action on an MPA Chassis...
