The diametrical tolerance used by most reamer grinders is plus .0004, minus zero. If there is any erosion in the throat there may be a bit of a step or an area that does not clean up visible through the borescope. After break in it will probably not be noticeable and most likely will have no effect on how it shoots.I can pin the bore with + and - pins. One is .2218+ the other .2219.
That range ought to be OK with a pilot?
The freebore of two of my barrels pins to .2245 with a PLUS gage.
It was done, according to the maker to .2245.
BUT
a .2245" reamer can be .2245 0/+0.004.
If it was 0.0002" LESS than what I have, would there be a step where it starts cutting, and would that matter?
If it cut 0.0002" over not a big deal.
