Never too old to learn..or why did I not listen and try this sooner?
Lanolin and Heet...should have been using this for years.
Will never buy another commercial case lube.
This stuff really works!

So does just plain old graphite powder.

Film canister of birdshot and add a bunch of graphite then shake well.
Plunge case necks into it beyond the shoulder then size.
Can take a couple to fully coat the insides of the die then you're good to go.

I have been using 12:1 ratio with good results. You need to let it sit and the alcohol flash off. I use it for large batches or small but it does a good job. I still use Imperial Wax on my match ammunition though . Don’t think there would be any difference between the Heet/lanolin mixture and Imperial just my superstitious way.

So does Imperial Sizing Wax and a 2 oz tin lasts a very long time (years) and I shoot about 1,000 rounds of centerfire rifle a year.

Using a 12:1 ratio
1 oz lanolin to 12 oz HEET

Make sure to let it evaporate a bit before sizing. I dump my brass in a big ziplock, pop in a spray or two....shake...dump on to a towel for couple minutes then size away.

Tried lanolin, too hard to wipe off. Tried most everything out there and once I found Royal case lube I never looked back. wipes of clean and easy and leaves a protective coating. Super slick, best yet

Agree. Lanolin builds up in the case rim area where my tumbler wouldn’t get it out. All over shell holders, lubes and gums up everything in a 7’ radius of the case it’s on.

It works. It’s a mess. It’s a plan b for me if I run out of one shot.

Lanolin is a bit sticky. That’s why I chose to go with Castor oil. It wipes off easy. Or just dry tumble for 10-15 mins.

I use coconut oil sold in the grocery stores, rub a little on and it works great and wipes off cleanly.

Agreed, some things are just not worth the effort, lol. Although, homeade solutions can be somewhat fun and rewarding. That said, I was an Imperial user until I tried Hornady One Shot Wax...you can feel, when FL sizing, it's a far more efficient and slick lubricrant. It's lightly more difficult to remove than Imperial, but I tumble in walnut media, 100 cases at a time, to remove...so it makes no difference. It's a little smelly at first too, but that goes away.

The simplest product I've ever used for lube is the Lee white paste in a tube. It has worked fine for me since the mid-90s. The best part is it wipes away with a damp cloth. No build-up on the cases.

Ran short of Imperial Sizing Wax, tried some Burt’s Bees hand salve. Never went back to Imperial. Container is 3” diameter slightly short of 1” deep.
It‘s also excellent for your hands in the winter time, dry skin etc.

I used it for years before I found Royal case lube. I still use lee in my case necks before seating bullets. ES improved quite a bit and no bullet weld

Plain old lip balm works well, wipes off easy 1$ a tube at discount stores. Contains lanolin.
