Borescope Revelations in Old Trapdoor

Purchased an old trapdoor a month ago. Have shot it some, cleaned it a lot. Figured there would be 140 years of build up. Thought it would be clean by now. Patches looked good. Well then I bore scoped it.. Don't ever do that. I have never seen anything like this. Appears to be globs of something, lead I assume. Going to be cleaning for a while.

After reloading for over 60 years I bought a bore scope. On sale so no big deal $ wise.
I can now look down my barrels with perfect clarity and don’t have clue what I’m seeing. Maybe there’s a course or class somewhere but without explicit instructions it’s basically useless.
Short range bench is all I do. Can shoot in the 2’s and a few in the 1’s.
Don’t think that borescope is tightening the groups.

I started a thread with some takeoff barrel images that are in this forum. Don't know if they'll be helpful or not but at least you'll perhaps have something to compare to. 4 barrels and all 4 are in really bad shape.

You [may] be suffering from B.A.D. (Borescope Anxiety Disorder). It can occur sometimes when one sees what they perceive to be frightening things in the borescope. FWIW -things may look frightful, but the rifle may still shoot well. Hopefully that will be the case for you, and your B.A.D. will be healed. If not, months to years of intensive therapy are sometimes necessary to cure severe cases of B.A.D.

I stopped using my borescope and pay attention to my targets and my shooting.

I have a 1954 Ruski SKS I've put thousands of rounds through and only cleaned it twice. I rather die than to stuff a borescope down it's muzzle. I would probably die from a heart attack if I did it anyways.
