Rendezvous 3.0 2023

Digesting the info on the leader board and equipment list.
Top 5 shooters in the 16 target group agg
1.) Dasher
2.) Dasher Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
3.) BRAW
4.) BRA
5.) Dasher

Top 5 shooters in the 16 target score agg

1.) 6.5X47 (second year in a row)
2.) 6.5X47
3.) 284
4.) Dasher Same dude as above ... yup, the entertainment Captain for the fun ship Rendezvous.
5.) 6mm of some sort?

Of the top 10 finishers overall
6 were shooting Dashers
2 were shooting 6.5X47's
1 BRAW
1 6mm?

Of the 44 competitors
15 Dashers
7 BRAs
7 undisclosed 6mm's
5 7mm's
3 6.5X47's
3 GT's
2 BRAW's Which I think are a tad longer in body than a BRA? I bet the Wilson's will school me up soon?
1 30 cal
1 straight 6BR

Tough crowd with a bunch of great shooting rifles for sure.
I conclude that the dasher is tough to beat. However, if there were only 3 6.5X47's in the fight and 2 made the top 5 in score.......... there might just be a message there. Same can be said for the 7 mm's, three of the five finishing in the top 15 and a jr shooter with a 284 Shehane was solidly in the fight until a 600 yard target bushwacked him. As near as I can tell, there was only one 30 cal in the race and it too showed strong.
Fun trip and lots to ponder for next June........ test, test, test

The LRB and other McMillian stocks are proven winners for sure, and both were well represented in the top 10 overall results. I think it is awesome folks are still "in the fight" looking for a better way. I shot a Masterclass stock in this match and it worked great, just looking for trends and trying to learn.

Thanks

Actions

I have not fully digested the action section yet

But I did just notice that of the top 5 finishers in the 16 target group agg, three actions were represented.

2 BAT Machine
2 Kauger
1 Borden

Kauger is the new kid on the block and showing strong for sure!!!!

You folks that have used the Kauger actions, any feedback you would like to share?

Clay,
I’m not sure what I was thinking. My stock is also a Byers. Stock work and rails completed by Chris Nichols, clear coat and stock detail by Ronnie Milford, gunsmith work by Larry Archer and Kauger action that performs flawlessly (set an IBS 20 target HG agg record last year, first year) and wouldn’t dream of using another action! Smooth, accurate, affordable, available and the family does a ton for our sport and is as easy going as you could ask for. If you have any questions about the actions, please feel free to reach out!

I’m digging the front rest in the picture. Very cool.:)

I THINK this started as a Shehane Big Dawg. It was a Jim Bauer project that I’m trying to perfect. He put the barrel block in and aluminum rails in front and bottom of stock. Ronnie Milford pulled the aluminum out, replaced with carbon fiber, added carbon fiber strip down center to increase rigidity and installed mounting points for the 2” rudder, trued it all up and shot it with clear. Thanks to Carroll Lance for the brass butt plates for adding/adjusting weight bias. Front is 6” wide with the carbon fiber wings. I ran the last 2 years with a straight 1.25” but I finally found enough time last summer to work with this Lilja barrel that I hoped to use at Rendezvous 1. It’s a 1.25x8” long shank HV contour to work with the barrel block. Jay Cutright did the barrel work with a 115FB 272 neck Dasher. NF NXS, Lapua, CCI 400, H4895 pushing VaporTrail 103’s. BAT 1.35 B with a 40MOA base they rushed to me the week before.

Please quit “trying to perfect it.” It’s too good as is.
