Marlin 25N rimfire Rifle sat in cabinet for 23 years

My grandson turns 11 soon so I dug out my Marlin 25N I believe, it shoots short, long and long rifle. For 23 years it sat and was dug out for a wipe own once in awhile.

I run a patch through her an grabbed a box of Winchester, (which it was not zeroed with), this is whatvI got at 50 yards.

Not bad for an old cabinet jester!

Wow - that's something. Having a rifle that accurate is a nice way to introduce your grandson to the shooting sports.

I bought one in 22 Magnum (25 NM) for my dad 30+ years ago. He liked 22 Mag since he had a Ruger Single Six Convertible and always used the mag cylinder. I put a Tasco scope on the Marlin it and it shot very well considering the horrible trigger, the industry's worst at that time. A gunsmith did what he could for it but it was never going to be a decent trigger. After Dad passed away I gave the rifle to a nephew.

I gave my boy my Marlin 22 magnum to handle the coyotes are his house. Having shot a 22 magnum I find to hard to get anything else . I've headshot chucks at 150+ yards. Like all lightweights they are wind sensitive.

My go-to medium-range 22 Mag squirrel rifle is a Ruger 77/22-VMBZ w/ "heavy" stainless 24" barrel and laminated stock. I sent it to Connecticut Precision for accurizing in the '90s, very reasonable and groups shrank by 50%. My "can't miss" ground squirrel gun out to 125 yds.

I had a 25N and it shot very good. I gave it to a buddy of mine, he has passed on since. I think his son has it now.

Marlin, at that time made very good rifles.

I took it out and cleaned it a couple times a year. It got worked pretty hard for several years I bet I bagged 50 or more chucks with it. After my son and daughter moved on to center fires it had rest.

The amazing thing is that after all that time and with ammo that it was not zeroed with it was that close and grouped well. A hell of a dollar value.

Well if you cleaned and fondled it a couple of times a year neglect is not an issue. Glad this is the case.

I still have my model 25n. First gun I ever bought when I was 11 with my own money. It still shoots great.

I had a Marlin bolt action, magazine fed, 22LR, I don't remember the Model # but it shot Norma Tac and Match around 1" at 50 yards. I sold it to a friend along with a 1" 3X9 Simmons scope and he still gets about the same results with the same amo.
