It's very bad for me to see these !
Has me thinking again.
6br 30fb with a 12 twist looks mighty tempting
That's my point. You know that I I know,that I know I don't need another one.
Any plans for a 30br reamer?
I would at least consider it. For anyone that likes a super accurate and easy to load for cartridge, it's about the best of the best and is a very viable, light recoiling hunting round too. It sells itself once people start playing with it. You could just spec a zero freebore no turn or light turn neck, or both. It's not a long range cartridge but is superb and might be the easiest cartridge to load for, ever. Certainly not telling you what to do at all but it's a great cartridge for anyone that likes to push the easy button on tiny groups. A 30 Major is really the only thing close to it. Most BR shooters use a really slow, 17-18 twist bbl but I wouldn't hesitate trying a faster twist if that's what I had for plinking. I don't think many are gonna notice the difference, aside from the BR crowd.I have no plans to purchase one.
Definitely agree on great all around and easy short range score and group caliber. The 30br in a 17/18 twist will be my next build!I would at least consider it. Al, I think you're missing my point. I agree from strictly a BR perspective. I don't think that is the case here though. It's still very accurate and very easily tuned. I would do a slower twist too, but I don't think people outside of the BR world, doing a nutted Wilson bbl are as fanatical as you and I would be. I'd still wager it to be quite possibly their easiest to tune and most accurate bbl in their safe....which sets the hook for accuracy minded shooters to maybe do a more optimized set up in the future. Again, I'm not telling him what to do but if I were in his shoes, I'd have that reamer in my box for the short range guys. Not the guys who think if they buy a bbl in 6.5 creedmoore is automatic 1000 yard deer kills, but they'd be well served with learning from something like a 30BR. I think everyone should start out with one. It just doesn't get any easier.Mike, the last time I checked with Wilson, a 10 twist was the slowest they offered. I can't tell any difference in gun behavior from the 17 to an 18. But when we moved to the 17's from the 15's in the HBR guns, the difference was pretty pronounced in terms of torquing in the bags. -Al
I thought about that. It's still super easy as long as you're not looking to win high level br matches with it. That's why I mentioned possibly offering a no turn version.Mike, I sure agree with you re: the concept. My concern is more along the line of the end users being able to make good cases. Then again, maybe a package deal with brass from DJBS would work too. -Al

@urbanrifleman, Sounds like your next adventure.
If you are shooting a 30br seriously, then you need to go custom on the bullets.
There are plenty of light 30 cal bullets from berger, Speer Sierra and Hornady, off the top of my head, in addition to any customs. What you do is up to you but I'd at least educate myself on it and weigh the pros and cons to your customer base...which you know better than anyone
Anything 110-115 gr for 17-18 twist. You don’t want much heavier or faster twist or bullet than that because the torque and recoil is already bad enough on on the 30bra as is.Bullet availability for this caliber is...?
