intruder in my shop

I've been working all day in my shop, I decided to give the fields around my house a quick mow, and when I come back to my shop I found this intruder. One rattle and a button, not a new born, but this year, at least I got him before he got my dog. shot him with a .50 cal. at 10,000 yards. just kidding, I used a snare that I keep on hand just for this.

I need to make a snare. We had 4 one year around in house and once inside the garage that I left open when I went to check the mail.
Been using a sharp shooter shovel

they don't seam to be afraid of the snare like a shovel, so you can slip it right over their head and then a quick pull and it's off to rattlesnake heaven.

Now you know that there's mommy, daddy, brothers and sisters around -right?
I get those around my house every year. Damn if I can find mama

yep. been here 27 years. I know the drill. they are like salmon and come back home to bread. kill them all
Could you show us a pic of the snare to get an idea on how to build one?
One got my attention this week after opening a pasture gate that had pretty steep banks on both sides. He gave me one rattle and I sure appreciated it. Coiled, head out in front of him with tongue out. Chest high to me about a shovel distance away.

It's just a piece of half inch PVC pipe with a cable attached at the bottom and then running up the center, the problem is release. If you miss the snake and you need to reestablish the loop it's very hard. I'm going to modify it with some sort of a rod running down the center so that I can push it back to a loop. I'll take pictures of before and after later tonight

Here on my turf......rural Utah

Bull....Blow.....Gopher snakes I think all the same

I usually have 1-2 every summer around the house

Usually relocate them to the nearby fields

Have had two very aggressive ones that didn't fare well

Our rattlesnakes closely resemble gopher snakes in color

Do not like snakes....but they have a purpose...even rattlers
