Lucy says “not in my yard!”

My little rescue darling Lucy alerted me to an intruder in the back yard last nite.
This female was trying to get at some scraps I left out for the camp robbers.
Lucy barked her off twice but she kept coming back, third time was the charm for me.
My trusty Remington 514 .22 LR. One shot DRT at 25 yds.
I’ve posted here before I bought this rifle from a sod farm co worker
when I was 13 yo. He wanted ten bucks, I bargained him down to seven.
And yes I’m big and tuff enuff to have a little furry white dog, ( I have some pink shirts too).

Please school me. On the Rem 500 series, as I recall
510 = singleshot
511 = detachable 6 shot mag
512 = tube feed
513T = target stock and barrel 6 shot mag

514 = ?

I have a 512, it is tube feed. Super long sight plane and very accurate with whatever you feed it.

Great job Lucy! I refer to small dogs like her as "buddy dogs" I've had several they are very loyal.

I got a 550-1. Inherited it last year from my grandpa. Have not shot it. He told me about 4 years ago i could have it when he was gone. It was special to him. My family used to pick cotton by hand during season and live at makeshift camps by the fields. My grandma saved up one seasons pay to buy him that rifle. I dont care to shoot it but ill never get rid of it.

Kwar123- you are right on.
I tell Lucy 100 times a day ‘ yer my buddy’ , I refuse to
refer to her as a dog, it’s just her and I here. She’s loyal as heck. She has actually slowed
down my productivity cuz I can’t even leave her alone in the house or car, she goes with everywhere.
Abused in Denver and got her thru a rescue program. She had no hair, only skin
from the neck down.

As far as 514 history, over the years I have run across three smooth bore
models, I think they were stamped model 514, but not sure. I guess they were made for small clay target shooting.
I believe the targets were call Mo- Skeet-O s or something like that?

I see now -- looks like the 514 has a different bolt/safety set up than my 500's. Maybe the same receiver?? jd

Here is a picture of my daughter's rescue that I rescued cause she got on hard times and was going to have to give him up. These are little SOULS that are sent are way, I think it's a test of some sort, whatever it is you sure get a lot of love back for helping them out. I owned a small trucking company and he rode with me for several years. Jack-e-buddie.jpg
