Opening groups?

I have to agree with Ned. I've never shot or seen a. 5" group shot at 100 yards shoot 4.5" groups at 300 yards.
Well...something caused it. The phenomenon you're describing typically doesn't happen because of the load. It just doesn't. What you're describing suggests a change in the flight path of the bullet at some point after 100 yd. That is not likely to be caused by the load itself. It could be a component defect, but even that would be rarity. Loading the 185s would answer that question.

Funny, I hardly ever read from anyone, examining or suggesting any changes in shooting positions on the rifle. "Suptle" changes make a diiference in cause and effect.

Good point. However, I do all my testing from prone as that's the way I shoot matches. As a High Master, I'm fairly accomplished at it.
Agreed, and as an accomplished high master myself, I will conceed that I have caught myself faulting in position-on-gun, not only during testing but during a match or two. I find it difficult to believe that no one else is susceptible to this. Not implying this occured durung your test session but it still plausible as a reasonable possibility

Agreed, I guess it is possible as I had to pack my gear and move to another range to go 300yds. Thank you.
Today I loaded some 185gr Juggs at -020 off jam. Will begin the ladder for powder charge there.

Please post your tuning ladder when you get done.
