308 brass volume starline vs Lapua

Does anyone know off hand if there is a significant volume difference between Lapua and Starline in 308? I know there is with Winchester and Lapua, needing about a 1/2 less powder with Lapua.

I did a quick test, both brands weighed pretty close to each other and I filled a case full of ball powder and poured one into another and it filled the case equally.

Have a match Sunday and don’t have enough brass prepped, so was thinking of switching brass (to starline). This load is for an AR10. 185 juggernaut with 43.5 of varget around 2550 fps.

Thanks. I might find time tomorrow to work up and confirm, but looking for a sanity check.

For competition, it's always a good idea to take your own volume measurements of any new lots of brass you acquire as even within the same brand of brass there can be a significant difference from lot to lot, let alone from one brand vs another.

The last .308 Starline brass I measure gave me an average volume of 54.6 gr H2O compared to my Lapua brass having 55.9 grs H2O. I wouldn't expect this particular difference to hold true your Lapua and Starline brass. But is should show that taking measurements for competition would be an important step in your brass pre. These measurements are from fired/unsized cases and I'd also think the volume measurement this way will vary depending on chamber specs that the cases were fired in.
