Savage 12 lprb made into a dual port

I have a savage 12 lrv lprb in 6br. I don't care for how the empties just fall off the bolt and lay inside. Does anyone have a recommendation to get it to actually eject? Would a gunsmith turning it into a dual port let it eject to the right? Anyone have the same rifle with a solution?

Changing eject direction is probably not possible. You'd have to move ejector/extractor/etc.

Does the ejector and spring move freely? I have a savage 12 that the spring got bound up pretty quickly and stopped working. I just pulled it out, but I'd suspect you're having a similar problem.

You can call savage, tell them your problem. They will ask for the serial number and more than likely send you what you need for free. I have a couple times with my rifles

Common savage issue

The tactical works savage kit is an excellent option.
The bigger ball bearing behind the extractor trick is also helpful, especially with short cases

Fixed one of those today for a friend, it was severely seized up from some high pressure shenanigans

I did try replacement with the enhanced savage extractor and spring kit. It was worse. At times I couldn't get the fired brass out unless I removed the bolt from the action. It seems like the case drags on the right side of the action. I put the original parts back in. Savage said I can ship them the rifle. At this point I'm thinking of selling for a loss unless I can have it made to be useful.

I did try the bigger bb with an enhanced kit. It worked so good then the bolt didn't want to release to fired brass.

Exactly what mine looked like. The spring just collapses.
He sneezed a few cases hard and it broke the tail of and that seized the spring
Then someone went after it with want looks like a tiny chisel and mangled it thoroughly.
It was fairly interesting getting that one out.

I wish I had another gun like you have in the pix. All the original model 10 predators shot like hell. Even the max 1 versions also. Should have bought several before they quit making them

Disassemble your bolt, take the firing pin assembly out , take cross pin out and turn the bolt head 180 degrees and reassemble it. Make sure you don’t have the extractor claw installed backwards also. . It should work fine then. Just a simple mistake was made it appears

I've had this issue since I bought it. But. I'd do that and report back. Thank you

A trick with the bolt at the back. If your the least bit mechanical minded. Insert the short end of a 1/4 Allen into the bolt. Find a hard surface to rest the actual bolt handle head on on and push the Allen down it should break it loose without much trouble. I’ll post a pix of how I do it

Don’t pay attention to the Mickey Mouse allen pack I can’t place where my good set is at the moment. Hold one hand on the bolt body and the other push down counter clockwise on the Allen, it should break loose image.jpgFAC5241A-0021-4C8D-90C7-BB1EDD6B7221.jpeg
