Who's got a new truck ?

I have three running pickup trucks; all Dodges just because. The '81 150 has 40,000 miles on it. The '91 Cummins has 250,000 on it, and the 2017 3500 has 90,000 on it. At least 1/3 of the '91's miles are off-road and it is beat up badly. The 2017 is a trailer puller and most of it's miles are on the highway pulling something.
If I was to buy a new one, I would like a GMC one ton gasser. What I would really like is a truck with a manual transmission, a manual shifter for 4wd, headlights which can operate without a computer, a dimmer switch which doesn't cost 400 bucks to replace, and a real key!
Apart from this, I am pleased with the 2017 and will probably just keep putting money into it for the duration. The body is sound, the electric stuff works (after replacing the freakin' dimmer switch), it's reasonably comfortable, and it performs well. It has towed the trailer, across the country and back, four times. The one big failure was that the electronically controlled turbo charger calved at 80,000 miles, two months after the warranty timed out. This was a 7000 dollar touch and slightly upsetting. The old '91's turbo is happily spinning away after 250,000 miles and 32 years. WH

Are there any models of the gas chevy v8 that you can get without the Active Fuel Management? I've had a couple of friends with late model Silverado 5.3's that had their motors pretty well destroyed by an issue with this. Always been a GM feller, but this scares me.

You will need to buy a 2500 or 3500 series truck of any brand to get away from the AFM trash motor's. You couldn't give me a 1/2 ton truck made by anyone today.

Dodges are discount trucks, when you can't afford anything else...lol

Wake up. The new dodges are rams -different company -like comparing old toyotas to new tundras. I bought a ram 5 yrs ago cause it had the best ergonomics for me. Operational word is me. I spend 99% of the time in my truck sitting in it so controls, comfort and outside vision is how I rank them. Mechanically they are all equally as reliable, or not. Budget was not my concern.

I am spoiled and like all the new creature comforts. Fuel economy and pulling power far exceed what was available 30 years ago. I have gladdly given up working on my vehicles. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, take your pick.

Old trucks, new trucks...
How bout an old truck made to act n look like a new truck???
Stay tuned,, the transformation is underway, this is gonna be a east coast west coast kinda thing.
Sit back enjoy the ride and take a number....
You could be next!!
Kinda liking your thought process especially if you keep the pre-emission control power train with the exception of a tuned direct port fuel injection system.

Again

Just fur fun

'02 Chebby I bought new in '02

Got more hillbilly tricks on this shop truck. Bed repair plate coming tomorrow... not rust. Heck, this thing still has the chassis paper/sticker bar code labels on it from the factory...

Nope, bed is getting surgery so I don't have to crawl under it for the new stainless exhaust, amongst other things. Nothing better than pulling up next to a Rapter and leaving them for dead with a 3rd/4th highway roll on...

Luv it !

I want my old 1988 Ford F250 4wd stick shift with roll up windows, but I want AC this time!

I had a '78 with a 400 and a 4 speed very similar to this one (mine weren't near as nice). This was maybe 8-10 years ago. It was my daily driver for a couple years, and I think about just how much fun it was driving. The smell off the exhaust, the sound, and shifting gears... That sumbitch had torque enough that down shifting out of fourth at county intersections was optional.

Always wish I'd have kept it and fixed the body up good; it didn't need much but anything like that at this point in life goes on the way back burner.

Brother at the price of new trucks I'm gonna drive this 14 till the wheels fall off.
I fixed and painted the side of a 21 bout 2 Mos ago....
Every time I climbed into it I thought this could be mine, as tempting as it was I chose my 14 with $0000 payment.
For you blue oval "Freakin Okies Really Dig'm" crowd, F250' ain't cheap.
F250's @85k with 350''s pushing $100k, shit that's 1/3 my freakin mortgage!!

Conscious decision
Just remember that I got you when the time comes in the future.

We buy RAMs 2500 gas now. I have over 60 units on the road. Payload over 9,000lb plus a trailer that weighs 7k. Before we purchase ford f250. More issues with the ford's. Not a fan of the Fords. Hemi engine seems to hold up more than the Fords. I will say front suspension on Ram have had issues. But the Fords suspension in the rear gave the most issues. we have to install air bags on them.
I drive a 2023 ram 2500 powerwagon and I love it.

Here's my nicest suburban out of 4. 98 with 54k miles. It's never seen snow. Original owner who I knew, drove it Pa to NC to their second home and stored it covered in the barn. It has a mildly worked over 6.5 turbo diesel, 4:10 gears, auto/od. Runs awesome, gets 18 mpg. Doesn't have all the new stupid shit on it. Smells almost new.IMG_20230105_151919550_HDR.jpg
