10TThat should work ok
What barrel twist you use for your 208g bergers.
Ok, Try bullet seating 15-20 thou off Lands.10T
I am still breaking in so hopefully I’ll be developing soon. I’m guessing this barrel has over .200 freebore.
I requested a 170-180 freebore when I sent it away for chambering. When I was checking out the seating depth, it was obvious that it was much more. I asked him what it was he not sure but said it was long enough for the heavies. I don’t think I’m going back for seconds.Rainbow1, if you are playing F-T/R you can live with single feed and don't need consideration for how sturdy or robust the cartridge it since it will never need to be abused by magazine feed. What you are showing will work. However....
The next time you change that barrel, you will want to consider your favorite bullet and load, then study the design trade-offs before you contact your gunsmith.
You are in such well charted waters that you won't have a problem once you are talking to a gunsmith who knows F-T/R.
Your going to have to go give it a try to find out.I requested a 170-180 freebore when I sent it away for chambering. When I was checking out the seating depth, it was obvious that it was much more. So I was wondering if what appears to be a 200+ freebore with so little neck contact is something that others have had success with or am I likely headed for a plan B.
I agree I’m going to try and see. My request was based on the numbers. I’m kinda amazed that a 170ish request (which I think is not unusual) became 200+ and he can’t even tell me what it actually is.Your going to have to go give it a try to find out.
My guess is based on being on the planet for a long time and you should be fine for a game where you single load.
Just curious, did you send/give the gunsmith a dummy round with the specific bullet you liked? Or was this project based on communicating numbers?
Unless you are working with a gunsmith who has experience with Fullbore or F-T/R, then you would be far better off with them working to a dummy round and the request to chamber it for a touch on that dummy round. You would be less than 0.005" away from the target seating depth value if they are competent.
A gunsmith with Fullbore background only needs to be told what bullet you plan to run and how you like to seat it.
I have a feeling you will need to find the next gunsmith after you burn this barrel up.
