What is your favorite

Caliber? I have many 22, 6.5, 7mm, 35, 40, 45 and 54 but my all time favorite is the 22 cal. For what ever reason I like that one the most, have the most cartridges and rifles. What say you?

For center fire rifle, the 223 Rem in a bolt rifle is my absolute favorite. Just love to shoot this cartridge. The light recoil, economy of loading (280 rounds out of 1 lb. of powder), outstanding accuracy, and excellent terminal performance on varmints and predators out to 300 yards make it my favorite all around shooting cartridge and varmint / predator hunting cartridge.

However, if I was just a hunter, on a limited budget and didn't spend 2 to 3 days at the range in recreational shooting thus needed a dual-purpose hunting only cartridge for both deer and varmints/predators, it would be the 243 Win. For many years this was my only rifle / cartridge, and it did it all hunting wise quite successfully.

For pistol, it's the 22 long rifle for recreational target shooting. The light recoil, relatively inexpensive ammo, and excellent accuracy make it a good choice for this purpose. Easy on the ears too. ;)

I started with a 223 and prefer it due to the low recoil and economy of reloading for it. The 20 cals are loads of fun as well and may have surpassed the 22's for me. I have a 204R and two 20P's to go with the three 223's I have right now.

I have always been a big fan of the 25 caliber, for hunting anyway. I do believe it is uniquely American which makes it kind of endearing to me. Particularly enjoy the 250-3000 & 25-06. In competition cartridges, the 6.5 x 47 and 6BRA.

I'd have to go with my 338LM with 300 gr. Berger OTM's,can't seem to leave it alone.Bought it(CA MPR)and a CA BA Tactical(300WM)2 years ago and to date the 300WM has a total of 10 rounds through it while the LM has around 400.Both wear NF 7-35 ATACR's,a TT Diamond set at 13 ozs. on the LM and a TT Special set at 16 ozs. on the WM.I only get to a range 10-12 times a year and usually only shoot 30-40 rounds each trip. The LM is set up with an Atlas 5-H bipod,Protektor rear bag,Adjustable Bag Rider, and a Terminator T-4 brake. It's just a flat out hoot to shoot,(and nicknamed "Ivan" after Ivan Drago in the Rocky movie,"whatever it hits it destroys":D).

I am a .264 kind of guy, have a few, small capacity to larger capacity chamberings. Been at the .264 business since 62. An interesting group of cartridges and guns made for them over the years. Does not take a magnum belt to make a 6.5 deadly.
