the fourth tend to cause rocking
if you want to hit something..the table cannot flex nor move at all

Lets be a bit more clear, 4 legs on a shooting table does not make it unstable. Every single kitchen table, dining table, refrigerator, cars, trucks have four (4) points of contact, so it must be solid.

Home floors are fairly flat and there’s probably enough flex in a kitchen or dining room table to ensure 4 point contact. Vehicle tires certainly have enough flex to maintain 4 point contact.

Lets be a bit more clear, 4 legs on a shooting table does not make it unstable. Every single kitchen table, dining table, refrigerator, cars, trucks have four (4) points of contact, so it must be solid.

just not true...i eat on dinning room table, i shoot from a solid bench...go to a benchrest shooting range....three leg benches. while 4 may work on a nice flat floor in the real outside world 3 points is stable.

I do go to a BR range with concrete block bases and concrete tops, but that is NOT applicable in this thread which is about PORTABLE shooting benches. Four leg portable shooting benches work for lots of people, saying "just not true" is not true. LOL

4 adjustable legs are solid on dirt.

When I use my table, I can take down and setup in less than a minute each. I'm not so steady without front and back support. Some of the table look solid, but my back aches just looking at them. I pull a captive pin on each and they fold up.

Three leg portables work fine
