Well I finally finished my portable shooting bench and I must say that I am absolutely thrilled with the results. The bench is solid and steady. I would only put it second to a concrete bench. I used the plans at this link:

I modified the plans a little. I used one sheet of plywood to make the top 3 pieces thick at 3/4 inch each pieces. I also used a 2x6 to cut the wedged pieces instead of 1 inch oak. The 2x6 gave me a little more angle (somewhere around 18 degrees). My friend cut the wedged pieced for me on his band saw (Thanks D.A.). Also I used some 1/4 inch diameter lag screws to hold the wedges in place.
I look forward to alot of shooting off this bench. Parts cost about $100 and with spray paint and clear coat I probably have around $130 in this bench.
