Scope mounting Anschutz 54

I am looking for some direction. I have a friend who has an early Anschutz 54. We are trying to mount modern optics without having to drill and tap this old beauty. I haven’t had any luck with google. I will attach pictures to show what the action looks like. Any help is greatly appreciated.870685A9-DB42-424F-A48D-6A2DF5C94A60.jpegF198836E-DFA8-4F16-B20A-7609EB9FE5EF.jpeg

Here os what concerns me. There is a step down from the action to the barrel. Am I correct in assuming that woukd mean the front ring that mounts on the barrel would beed to be slightly taller than the rear?View attachment 1431789
You can use just the rear dovetail groove. here is how I mount s 46X scope. if you want to use just dovetail rings then BKL also makes a cantilever rings

I used Talley rings on my "64" action MPR, but it had the grooves on the front of the chamber opening, and held the 36x solid for 5 yrs.

Google 'Anschutz 11mm dovetail to Picatinny Adapter'.

I have a model 64 with a 20 moa adapter, and a 20 moa one-piece picatinny scope mount for 100 and 200 yard bench rest matches at my local club. Remember that a Picatinny rail will work for weaver and picatinny scope rings, but not always the other way around.
Cheers

When I had an old 1411 I used this.

But, you can use single rings and mount both on one side of the scope.
These look like they will fit the bill. Got two coming with 1" rings and one with a picatinny rail to try on the rifle I am buying from him with my Trijicon Ten mile. I cant figure out why these didnt come up in the numerous google searches I tried. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Early Anschutz 54 single shot rifles had dovetail grooves only on the rear half of the receiver. After 1964 there were grooves in front of the loading port as well.

Many shooters use BKL cantilever rings, either one piece or two. There are alternatives, but BKL rings are reliable and readily available.

I would go with the Burris Signature Zee rings over J&P adapters. I have a couple sets and they always, always work.

Minor differences in rail height could even be compensated using the Signature ring inserts.
