Advice on welding gun part.

I posted this earlier but was looking for advise on fixing the carrier on a Remington V3 shotgun. The part is not available by its self only in a complete assembly.

I have contacted Remington and have been told that all the remaining parts in stock were assembled as complete guns and sold.

Now I have a broken carrier. I can weld it back together but want some advise on which method to weld it would be the best.

My choices are:
1. Braze it with brass rod.
2. Weld with steel rod.
3. Silver solder.
4. Wire feed arc.

The metal appears to be hardened.

Would I need to re harden the metal after welding?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I Tig’d a thin motorcycle part the other day with silicon bronze and was pleasantly surprised how nicely that worked. For say this shotgun part, would you suggest grinding a bevel to form a “V” at the joint?
I would just to get more fill since its not actually fusing the metal together

Spoke to one of my fellow shooter at the 1000 yd range this morning. He said the same thing, Tig weld it.

Thanks guys for the advise..

Either of the tig wire mentioned would be acceptable OK, if you choose the silicon bronze filler you will be best suited to heat the edges to be joined to a deep red to cook some of the carbon to the surface or do an etch and brush it clean. The carbon coming to the surface when welding with silicon bronze can be a problem.
