I have bought automotive paint mixed and put in cans loccally before to paint the gauge pod in my powerstroke Dully a few years back, and irt was great with the plastic activator and plastic prep I had to use with it, and was expensive. But this is not, and is top quality in my opinion, at least up till now as this is only 6 months old.
$44.00 for the candy kit,
1 can course metallic
1 can your choice of candy colors
1 can 2k Clear.
I bought 2 cans of primer, (grey) 3 cans candy, 2 cans course silver metallic, and 2 cans 2K clear. I have more than half left! For a stock the above kit is all thats needed for a rifle stock, with some left.
I was instructed to after prep, to use my choice of primer color, but used to grey to cover easier with the silver.(which I would have spent more time doing, had I known just how capable these paints are)
I was then told to give it 2 coats of course silver.
Then 3 coats of the candy ruby red,,,, I should have listened! I figured heck if three is good, 5 is better? WRONG! I mean I'm happy, and in any light it pops like you cant imagine! But it would show the candy affect with the metallic under 3 coats better in the shade and cloudy days, the extra coats just muted the affect more than most would like!
All coats within 1/2 hour of each other, light even coats to keep from running. Then within two hours hit it with three coats of the 2K clear, and then withing 24 hours pitch whats left, once the hardener is activated the clear has to be used (they say) within 24 hours, I say withing 6 hours to be sure of a thin even spray, like Gunsandgunsmithing said about the very end of a can.
I didn't have a problem emptying the candy with good spray pattern and coverage. but as the clear and hardener start activation, it is getting thicker before 24 hours as I tested it. 12 hours is as long as I would use it once the hardener has been activated.
