Lets talk .22LR match ammo (50-100yd)

Picking up a CZ 457 MTR for the grandsons and get em' going on the
bench. One is familiar with my .22's and has shown with my Remington
597, he can get some 3/4" groups at 50 yards with CCI mini-mags. For
initial work I found some Wolf extra match made by Eley to get them
started when the rifle arrives......Not worrying about prices. Also, availability
and best places to shop for the higher end ammo.

The Wolf EM is a good start. Any of the SK line shoots very well, SK Long Range is the best match ammo for my guns, Eley Club is my second match ammo. I shoot a lot of long range steel. I use most any ammo for practice, CCI SV. Norma Tac22, etc. I have found Eley Contact shoots very well out to 250yds, in 4 of my guns. It out shoot any of the low end ammo, and it is $5.25/ box at Killough.
You don't need $20 / box to get good groups. try SK line, Eley Target, Contact, and Club. Any of the higher end ammo will shoot very well.

Killough's for Eley ammo. https://www.killoughshootingsports.com/
Good Shooting https://goodshootinginc.com/
Champion's Choice https://www.champchoice.com/

These 3 have not jacked up their prices due to the shortages.

Top two in most all my CZs has been RWS, Center X. If you can find it , discontinued now, but Federal Ultra match has also been very consistent.

SK rifle match. Center X, and Eley Black box are well under 1" at 100m in mine. Eley bought on this site. Ammoseek has worked well for my 17 HMR/HM2 needs.

G,
Always had good luck with SK's, RWS (50 and 100) and Wolf. (match, extra match)
These seem to group just as well as the Eley and other high end Lapua's.
Just bought some of the new Lapua long range, just haven't got out with it yet.
Grab a couple boxes of each and make sure you "foul" the barrel up with 5 rounds
or so before you go to grouping them. Some are oily and some are not.

Problem is trying to find all the ammo you want from the same place, to save on shipping.
Just buy it where ever and shoot it.

From what I have experianced the 457's in general are more picky than the older CZ's and the MTR chambers in particular can be even pickier. I have 2 old 452's that love anything SK or Lapua and even do decently with CCI SV. Neither one will shoot anything Eley or RWS. A lot of my buddies shoot the MTR chambered rifles and just about every one is using Lapua Midas plus at the matches with Center X a close second

My new 457 Varmint, non MTR chambered, is sporadic in nature. One day it will give me .3 groups with ammo A and .6's with ammo B then next range session flip 180. Today it was shooting bugholes with Norma TAC and turning it's nose up at Eley Match.

My advice is try a potpourri of different ammos and let the rifle tell you what it likes. Best place to find them is use the Ammoseek website. Set up a bunch of "notify me" alerts

I normally buy my factory ammo at sgammo.com. Wolf Extra was in stock
so I grabbed a brick to go along with my IMI 5.56's. $200 bucks gets me free
shipping with them. Unfortunately they have no Eley of any flavor in stock
other then the rebranded Wolf.

Seen a reference to Eley semi-auto bench rest and about $11 bucks a box.
Anybody test these ?? I would imagine these are loaded hotter for good bolt
cycling.

i have some ammo for sale.. but i won't ship it.. it's too much of a hassle.. FTF only.. if you're within striking distance of Bristol TN/Va.. shout at me..

You cannot find Center X today, a little Midas and LR are available. On the cheaper ammo you need to find what the fifle shoots well. My CZ likes Eley products.

I don't own a rifle that won't shoot RWS R-50 accurately at 100 or 50 yards. One is just slightly better with Midas+. At $19.50 a box I don't practice with either. Practice is usually with SK Rifle Match.
