It sure ain't a pre64 Mod 70.Interested as well. I know ARC has the CRF, extractor, and ejector, but I would love a three position safety.
Completely agree.It sure ain't a pre64 Mod 70.
Walt, in all likelyhood, the trigger was "tuned" and they didn't know how to fix the safety after doing the trigger job.I don't understand the love for 3 position safeties. A lot of the pre-64 70's I get to work on, have a safety that doesn't work anymore. Or worse yet, fires when it is released after the trigger has been pulled. IMO the safety needs to be part of the trigger.
Pretty sure MRC is no longer in business.I cant imagine anybody making a custom pre64 M70, but if you was to want something similar you can get a montana. I built on one one time. Had the same finish and similar tolerances.

Supposedly, MRC has an infusion of investment cash to up-grade their machine tools, and will be coming back sometime this year.Pretty sure MRC is no longer in business.
Theres a reason.Pretty sure MRC is no longer in business.
Id buy 5 of themI would love a custom CRF M-70 style action. However, so few of us understand their advantages want them anymore that I doubt it will happen. I would want:
1. 4" internal mag box
2. Std Rem 700 footprint
3. Accept Rem 700 triggers
4. Flat bottom
5. Side bolt release
6. Three position safety
7. 1.125" dia tenon
8. 16 TPI threads
9. Std CRF M-70 96 degree cone breech (though you could talk me into a Mauser 98 style breech)
10. CRF M-70 style claw extractor and ejector
Bill, I 100% agree. I just think a rifle should be designed better so that can't happen so frequently. Seems everybody with a Model 70 thinks they are a trigger expert.
Theres a reason nobody copies an m70- its not because its too good of an action. Not trying to be a smartass at all, actually a Win kind of guy, but my simple mind says, "Why not just have a custom built on a M70 action?" Couple zillion Remington based customs out there, and no way is it a better action. I would go so far to say the Win is superior in almost all ways, but then I would be banished to the netherworld forever.

If you like that safety, they make 3position safeties for remingtons.
A model 70 with a savage trigger on it- theres a winning combo lol
