I have a few traditional pocket knives I rotate: A Buck Trapper, Buck, Case, and Imperial "Stockmen", and a couple small Great Eastern Cutlery single blades. I subscribe to the "...carry just enough knife..." theory.

I dislike the benchmade locking system. It relies on tiny little springs that break.

I have probably 15 spyderco's in all sizes and steels... They're by far my favorite.

I have since changed my mind on benchmade and can no longer recommend them. They are on the boycott list like yeti, dicks, midway, etc.

Hard lesson I learned. God forbit, we maybe attacked one or more persons within 3' of us. At that time, a right handed man will be using his strong arm to fend off attackers, more than likely. So, his left hand should retrieve the knife from pocket and deploy.

For practice, deploy your favorite pocket knife from your left pocket with just your left hand. You will see the flaw in knife designs where the designers had never needed to defend himself, or even thought the process through for that matter.

Never be a willing victim.

Multiple times I have laid out a fair amount of money for both hunting knives and pocket knives and in no time at all they disappear, never to be seen again. I can loose a good knife faster than just about anything.

So I'll buy some cheap piece of junk with a stainless blade that sharpens really quick and holds an edge for a while and I'll have it for decades. Sometimes I think I could take this cheap pocket knife and throw it out the window driving home and it would be back in my pocket the next morning.

I don't understand it but I've given up fighting it. Whatever works.

I'm so right there with you. My plastic handled Swiss Army knife has been in my pocket for 15 years.

I have an old yellow handled case trapper that belonged to a carpenter i worked partners with for a few years. He was an older guy that I really liked and when he passed his son (i went to high school with) gave me his old knife. He never used a utility knife he just used the pocket knife and sharpened it every mourning. The main blade is like a tooth pick. Can this blade be replaced without ruining the knife? If so who would do that sort of thing?

If it is a blade that Case still produces or has in stock they will do. Contact customer service and they can give you a quote but you must provide them with all the information on the blade. Ken

I have found, after losing a bunch of nice pocket knives, that an old rust stained knock off of a boy scout knife refuses to get lost. I've been packing it for years now. Saved me a small fortune.

Yeah those cheap ones they give you at the feed store never get lost...

The SOG -TAC XR with the Cryo D-2 steel. All of my knives are now D-2 steel. you can get them razor sharp.
They stay sharp! Flipper style knife with a slide blade lock.

I've been carrying the same Buck 303 for over 25 years now. It hasn't let me down yet.

I didn't even know that there was a pocket knife other than Buck 303 ( U.S.A. one).

I always keep a buck 110 in my pocket. Few years ago I bought one of there cabelas outfitter series 110 it has the s30v metal and a black coating on the metal, forget what the coating actually is. I use it almost everyday and still holing up great other then the scuffs and scratches it holds a great edge with that metal . I always tended to buy the 110s because I watched my dad carry one everyday.

Don’t laugh. This is my Shrade Old Timer. I have had it for 30+ years.

It spends a lot of time in Shipyards. It is on my belt every day.

I've carried one of two different Kershaw Leeks (the ones made in the USA) for years, mainly due to all the different types of pants and locations I carry one. I know a lot of people knock them, but I really like being able to lock the blade closed in my pocket, not that there's much chance for it to open there. It's a comfort zone thing, like a 1911 and it's grip safety among other things. I have the original stainless handle version and also a limited production version with G10 scales which is the one I carry most. I cut a hot electrical wire and knocked a chunk out of the blade and wanted to send it to have it repaired and Kershaw insisted on a warranty form, even though I explained it wasn't a warranty issue. They sent it back with an upgrade black wash hybrid blade since the blade it was originally made with wasn't available in that steel any longer, and they charged me a big $10 to cover shipping. Can't beat a deal like that. They always do what I need to do.

you should be able to find a blade on ebay.

When I was in my very early 20s I tried to carry a three bladed stockman knife in my pocket. That style fitted my needs perfectly. I lost three of them, in seemingly rapid in succession and finally gave up.

I have a plastic handled made in China lock back I got with a Lansky knife sharpening set maybe 30 years ago. Never gets lost.

Same with sun glasses. I buy a good pair that are expensive, they disappear. Or they get broken. I have a cheap pair I got for free with an auto parts store logo on them. About 23 years old and still going strong. I bought myself a nice present, a chronograph watch with a solid titanium case and band. Lost within a year. But I suspect that one was stolen at work.

For my needs right now the best knife is a button locking folding knife with a pocket clip that uses replaceable utility blades. Bright red in color. Came from Lowes or Home Depot. I think it had the Milwaukee brand on it but that wore off.
