Primer prices

Just out of curiosity how long does that 400 gallons last you?
Honestly IDK. I have three 275 gallon tanks. 2 of them are down in my cellar and there is one in the back of a 26ft box truck that I bought 4 years ago that I use for storage parked out in my driveway. I put 300 gallons in the house and 100 in the back of the truck last May I believe. Just a day before we got 2 feet of snow up here on Dec 16th and 17th I had my oil guy top off all 3 tanks before the storm and it took 370 gallons but the price was a buck less at 439.9. It was still 1627.00. I had a couple of cords of wood laying around in my back yard that I cut a couple of years ago. It was still good so I split it by hand just to use it up because I stopped using my wood stove 3 years ago after I had to replace some of the internal pieces in it. So I used that wood off and on from the end of October to almost the end of January when it finally ran out. I just used it to heat my first floor and the loft and only turned the furnace on to heat up the hot water for the dishes and taking a shower, but now I keep the furnace on all the time. The past 3 seasons without the wood, I would fill all 3 tanks usually the end of November to the beginning of December. By the 2nd week in March I'd have a quarter tank on each tank inside, then I would back the truck up near my house and put a hose over the male brass petcock at the bottom of the tank, stick the other end into the filler tube for the tanks downstairs which is near my front porch and gravity feed in inside and it would bring it up to roughly 3/4 full on each tank. By the time the end of November rolls around I'd have a little less than a half in each tank. By this coming November I should have a lot more oil left than I did the previous 3 years because of me using the wood stove.

As long as there's a NATO arms length conflict popping off, primer prices will follow the market for supply and demand.
Has everybody forgot about Iraq x2 and Afghanistan! Ahhh dont remember primers tripling in price then.
Ukraine uses 5-7,000 rounds a day
7,000×30= 210,000 rounds month
We used 5.5 million rounds a month in Iraq for how long?
Don't add up folks.

Just read this 26,000,000 to Ukraine in the last year, about 1/3 of what we were using in Iraq and Afghanistan a year

I think near by countries to Russia, are gearing up, for what could happen.
Just like old Joe is draining are oil reserves to the market. And reducing production on a pipe dream.. of wind and solar. Think 3rd world. Spent most of my working career in electric utilities, not going to happen at this pace without major pain. The technology isn’t there yet. It took a 100 years to make a good fuel efficient car and truck.

I understand this is a shooting forum but threads like this, complaining about the price of one or two things is like having our head in the sand

Look at the National Debt
yr 1980, 1 Trillion
1990, 3.2
2000, 5.6
2010, 13.5
2020, 27.7
today, 31 TRILLION DOLLARS

Societies values are almost completely broken down
schools are a mess
more than 10% of the population is on food stamps and
30% on medicaid
5 yr olds get sex changes and
20+ veterans commit suicide every day...
People have no anchor

Major food supply disruptions occur every couple of months, vegetables, chickens, pork in the last 3 years and eggs today

The bird flu has wiped out hundreds of millions of birds, wild and domestic

Yet we complain about the price of primers as if it's of real importance...

The wife and I are playing at F-Class, 600yds (22 Nosler).
Cost for two people to shoot a match, not counting practice sessions is about;
$22 in powder,
$42 in bullets.
$10 in primers (at 0.07 per)
$20 in match fees,
Some wear and tear on brass and barrels,
$11 in gasoline.
A practice session is about the same except for the match fees, but we usually stop for lunch on the way home.
Primer prices ain't gonna keep us from shooting.
Eggs and milk cost us about $20 more a month than last year.
Gas was $2.97 so we filled up on the way home.

And a round of golf at a country club is how much?
A bass boat, license, rods, reels, lures, with gas is how much?

Perhaps a bit more philosophical than gun related but there is an old adage of " A man who knows the cost of everything knows the value of nothing" If you are fortunate enough to have accumulated sufficient cash reserves especially later in life think of what will happen when you are gone--do you think that your heirs will really appreciate what they get? If you have it and want to use it - go ahead. Much like what I see all the time on gun sites- if you want another gun then get it - there is no reason to explain to anyone what you NEED- if it is not going to take food off the table or endanger your long term situation then do what makes you happy. Life is short and you only get one spin so enjoy it.
Yes I am well over 74 - I did without while I worked so I have it now.
Just my not so humble opinion

So are todays prices the norm? Should one wait if you have stock or buy every last primer you can afford? What's your gamble.
I still have plenty of primers. I bought some SRP mid pandemic at 80/k and I’m not buying any until later even if the prices go up. No need for me to reaffirm the suppliers gouging us.
